Hi Sue,
I just went through this with one of my degus. At first I thought it was a stroke but it turned out to be an ear infection. She was doing the same thing, turning in circles and tilting her head to one side, and falling over. She was also scratching at the ear that was infected. My vet gave me an antibiotic to give to her by mouth and also an ear drop to put in her ear. I had to do this twice a day for 2 weeks. It was a bit of a pain but my goo recovered completely.
I'd say take Lizzie to the vet. If it is an ear infection she can recover with an antibiotic. Good luck!
Anne

She is seven but still eating and letting me fuss her - please advise do you think she has had a stroke?
