Having problems with message search?

I have seen this impossibility of painting columns red in Excel
when the versions are different.

Thanks Rob, I know that. I normally paint the entire work sheet red and then select the column where the translation should go (which now still shows the English source) and set that back on Automatic color and that works every time.. except now!
But other types of editing work fine?
