Am I the only DV user who would find an INX preview function useful? =-O

No, you're not, but unfortunately no such previewer seems available.
After a bit of googling, I did find a reference to "Pocket Watch" and
"InDesign tags" but I doubt if it's a real viewer, and no doubt just
displays a the tagged file which is no better than what you see in DV. http://3d2f.com/programs/23-777-pocket-watch-download.shtml
Probably your best bet is to ask the creator to export the file to a PDF.

Hi Dave,
TagEditor does offer a useful preview function for INX files (see my
original message).

Indeed :-)

I don't know - perhaps someone without a licence could try it?

But presumably, with TagEditor's primitive capacities, you can only
"view" one file or story at a time so you don't get the whole picture
like a pdf?

I'll try and do some experimenting and report back.

The TagEditor INX preview function creates a temporary html file that
doesn't necessarily closely resemble the actual layout of the INX file
but could nevertheless be very useful for proofreading.
If you want to send me a sample INX file I can generate the
corresponding html file and return it for inspection.

Yes, it is a html file and does not resemble the original layout. The
only good thing is that you do not need the original .inx file to
create this html file. Helpful, when the client sends only the ttx file.

And also helpful to get at least some idea of the target file layout,
and perhaps for spellchecking purposes, no?
