PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Agile development methods and practices to develop software in a team
environment in accordance with MapQuest standards and deliver measurable
software value in an incremental and iterative fashion.
* Act as technical lead when appropriate to lead team development, sprint
reviews, demos and presentations and mentor more junior developers
* Provide broad perspective on risks, development alternatives and expected
technical debt.
* Routinely works with peers in other Technology teams to ensure
interoperability and scalability.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors or Master's degree in engineering or computer science or
equivalent experience
Experience: 5+ years of experience in software development with proven
track-record of delivering high-value, high-quality solutions, preferably with
consumer facing web applications

Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Thorough understanding of web application implementation, technologies and
concepts.
* Strong object oriented programming and design skills
* Advanced knowledge of HTML, object-oriented Javascript, CSS, XML, JSON, AJAX,
web services and Java.
* Experience with relational databases including MySQL and PostGreSQL and query
writing in SQL.
* Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing tools *
such as JUnit and Selenium
* Experience with version control systems (Git, Subversion)
* Experience converting graphical mocks into functional mark-up
* Experience developing intuitive user interfaces
* Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of Apache and Tomcat servers.
* Experience with online Ad display and Sponsored Links usage, integration,
tracking and reporting.
