Web sites created on Flash technology is gaining ground in recent years. Now,
with Macromedia introducing increasingly enticing features in Flash, this trend
is bound to continue unabated for a few more years. However, Flash-based sites
receive flak for being puffed up with frivolous details. The question is how to
find the perfect balance. Listed here are a few guidelines.
Pluses:
Interactive: Flash offers immense possibility in creating interactive features
in the site. Like peppy feedback forms and tempting games. These attractive
features are useful in pulling visitors back.
Standardized: When working with Flash, there is no need to worry about the
appearance of the site in different browsers. If the user has Flash player
installed, the web site will look exactly like they actually are.
Animation: The animating features in Flash help to express your ideas and
messages more effectively. Moreover, Flash animated files are smaller as they
are vector-based. The regular movie files are raster-based, which require larger
file size.
Minuses:
Installation of Flash Player: This is a requisite to view Flash movies. As many
web users are reluctant to download Flash Player, you will lose this audience.
In case the users have not already installed Flash Player, you need to redirect
them to the Flash Player download page, which is an additional load.
Search Engine Optimization: As most search engines cannot index content done in
Flash, you will lose the edge in the SEO rat race.
Load time: Loading time for Flash-based site is more, which poses high risk in
losing visitors.
Use Flash only when you need increased levels of interactivity and animation. If
the site is required to present only simple text or graphical information, use a
combination of Flash and HTML or plain text.

If you have an online business, then you know the importance of having a
professional looking website. But do you know how to accomplish this? Here is a
checklist to make sure you have all the components you need to ensure your
website looks better than your competition.
1. Logo - Make sure you have one for your business, and display it prominently
on every page of your site. But do not make it so large that it is distracting
to the main message.
2. Colors - Choose three or four that go together. Try to stay away from a black
background, as it is very difficult to read text.
3. Home Page - This should have some information about you and your business.
What is your product? Why should they buy from you?
4. A FAQ page - This should give visitors more information about your products.
Do not give away too much though. The goal here is to have them asking you for
more info.
5. A Contact Us button - Make it easy for visitors to be able to get in touch
with you if they have a question or comment. This is done by having a very
simple HTML form put on your website asking for their name and email.
6. An Order form - Again this is a simple HTML form. When a customers orders
from you, they will have to input their information. If you are selling a
downloadable product, you may not want to gather their physical address.
7. A Newsletter Sign Up link - yes, another html form asking for their name and
email. This is a good way to build up your database and send out periodical
mailings about specials or new products.
8. Keep graphics to a minimum - They can distract from your main message, and
take too time to load on their computer. Visitors can be impatient and not take
the time to wait.
9. A Business or Mission statement - If you have one of these, definitely
display it on your website. It looks professional and instills trust with your
customers.
10 A Uniform Theme - keep your navigation buttons and colors the same throughout
each web page.
Following the above checklist will ensure that you have the best website
possible for your e-commerce business. The HTML forms are extremely important,
but also simple to install. There are forms that you can purchase to fit every
budget.

Hello ~
I am interested in adding multiple streaming audio files to a web site that
I maintain, but I cannot figure out how to accomplish this feat. I have
been successful in getting one audio file to stream successfully, but when I
attempt to add other files to the streaming configuration, it doesn't work.
I probably need some type of "juke box" or "playlist" configuration to
accomplish it, but alas, I cannot figure out how to do it. I have at least
29 audio files at the present time, with hopes of adding more later and each
of these files is about 22MB each.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can accomplish this?
Thanks
Keith

I did this a few years ago in the jacketshop.com colorme movie. It has
been a few years since I did this.It required I set each color not
just to the section to be colored, but stored in a saparate variable.
Then I could reconstruct the jacket colors on a frame labeled for
printing.

I'm using a drop down menu via java script with the 'option value=''
command and i have many items in the drop down menu, I'm curious what
scripting i need to use in order to get all of the links to display in
a new page. I've tried adding window.open ('option') but that merely
shows a blank page. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The script is easy, however movie clips that cytle do not
significantly change file size if they cycle 1x or 40 x.
In the script you set a variable, say x=0; on the main timeline.
Then when your movie clip plays, you add on to x each time it plays
inside the movie clip.
Follow that script with the a testing statement, to see if you have
reached 4.

I was wondering if anyone has an action scrip that would allow an animation
to cycle a maximum of 4 times. This way it would run without using a large
amount of frames and keep the file size down. Thank you in advance for your
time.

Hi Jayne,
The SEO Quake extension works very nicely for PR and many other things
too. http://ff.seoquake.com/ is their website.
Hope that resolves things.
