The Digital Photography Special Interest Group of the Greater
Cleveland PC Users Group will host a presentation by computer
professional Phillip Williams on the GIMP, a FREE open source
graphics creation and manipulation application similar to Adobe
Photoshop. The meeting will be a short "course" showing how to use
the GIMP to do common digital imaging tasks, such as manipulating a
photo, removing red eye, correcting colors, resizing images and
changing them to black & white.

The imaging editing program, the GIMP, offers the following benefits:
-Much of the power of Photoshop for free
-Supports for a large number of file types including Adobe's PSD
format
-Since the program can legally be used for free it is great for
businesses or lab environments trying to comply with the law
-Ability to script repetitive task for easy mass photo manipulation
-Hundreds of plug-in's are available to increase the power of the
software

Phillip will provide a FREE copy of the program to a limited number

The Speaker
Phillip Williams owns Linux CD-R's (http://linuxcdrs.com), a
distribution company for Open Source Software and runs the Northeast
Ohio Linux Users Group (http://www.neonlug.org/). In addition, he
works as a programmer for Excellware, Inc. and has been a computer
professional since 1992, working on both Linux and Windows platforms.

Digital Photography Special Interest Group
The Digital Photography Special Interest Group is a special interest
group of the Greater Cleveland PC Users Group that is dedicated to
sharing information about digital photography. Meetings are free and
open to the public and take place on the third Thursday of each
