Area amateur photographers -- young and old -- should check out the
Cleveland Metropark Zoo photography contest, which runs through
September 4. Photos must be taken at the zoo. Rules, a prize list, and
entry forms are available on the zoo's website:

gift certificates to Dodd Camera, zoo memberships, and even a new
camera for one lucky winner.

Get rid of that old computer equipment and help Cleveland schools at the same
time. The City of Cleveland is collecting unwanted computers and peripheral
equipment from residents of Cleveland from August 7 to August 31 at its Ridge
Road and Carnegie Avenue recycling locations.
Accepted will be CPUs, printers, keyboards, monitors, mice (the computer kind),
modems, software, ink cartridges, and cell phones. Items collected will be
either be upgraded and distributed to schools or recycled.
Both facilities will be open Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm and on
Saturday, August 19, at 9am to 3pm. The Ridge Road location is located at 3727
Ridge Road and the Carnegie location is location at 5600 Carnegie Ave. For more
