I am pleased to announce the release of version 1.4.1 of the DITA Open
Toolkit, now available from the DITA-OT project page at SourceForge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dita-ot/
This release consists primarily of small bug fixes and minor enhancements.
It also includes several patches submitted by users over the last year,
some of which were unintentionally left out of the 1.4 release. It
addition, there are a few new requirements worth mentioning:
RFE 1764910 Allow greater control over the output directory
With DITA-OT 1.4 and older, if you reference a file that is above the
directory of your map on the file system, the output directories are
adjusted to ensure all files are generated within the output directory.
This behavior is still available, but by default the directory will no
longer be adjusted; only those files that fit within the scope of the
output directory will be generated. It is also possible to generate all
files, even those that end up outside of the output directory, without any
adjustment.
RFE 1764905 Allow option to build only topics listed in the map
By default, files that are cross referenced from a given topic will
generate a new XHTML topic during an XHTML build. There is now a new option
that allows you to generate only those files listed in the map.
We have also made progress on RFE 1725280 to improve error reporting during
a build. Completing the list of requirements, RFEs 1676947 (Integration
points for passing params to XSL) and 1686939 (Make dita.list into an XML
file) provide new capabilities to developers that work directly with the
toolkit code.
Over the next couple of weeks we will be converting some design documents
for these requirements into more usable documentation to let you take
advantage of the new functions. I'll post another note to the list when
that task is complete. We're also hoping to get out the latest version of
Dick Johnson and Anna van Raaphorst's DITA-OT User Guide as well.
In the mean time, I'd encourage everybody to download the new package and
start trying it out!
Thanks -
