New paper on the mathematics of capacitor's impact on sound   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1760 of 1766 |
Hi all,

well for those who still can't hear or believe capacitors have an
impact on the sound. This AES paper by a well respected transformer and
amplifier designer shows the math behind the intermod distortion in
capacitors. As some of us have long believe the choice of dielectric
and the stiffness of contruction are key. As is the signal voltage
through the capacitor versus the resonant frequency of the cap in
question.

the next step will be to devise a test that measures this distortion as
per these formulas to avoid long listening tests swapping caps.

Sounds good, the logic seems rock solid, but it is no concrete values been presented hear. What would be the frequency range where we could expect a capacitors...

Works for me. Try going here and then clicking on the "publications" link on the left: http://www.mennovanderveen.nl From: diy_audio_tweaks@yahoogroups.com...
