I started this group a few years back to give those into DIY speakerbuilding a place to discuss their designs and experiences.

I have built quite a few DIY speaker projects over the years. The results have been very rewarding! Personally, I am more into the woodworking aspect of speakerbuilding than the design aspect. But that's one of the things that make this a great hobby.

My current project is a small 2-way floorstander based on Rick Craig's SSR kit. I've always used mainly Seas drivers for my projects in the past, but never had the opportunity to try any ScanSpeak drivers. When the 18W8531-G came onto the market, I just knew I had to do a design that used that used that driver. Not being one with the knowledge or tools to do my own crossover design, I began searching for proven designs with the 18W8531. Rick's SSR kit grabbed my attention immediately, so I decided to go for it.

Wow, what a fantastic sounding speaker this is. Detailed and airy, yet no fatigue to go with the detail. The Fountek CD3.0 ribbon is awesome as well. I built the speakers pretty much to Rick's design (baffle dimensions and driver location), but instead of a bookshelf version, I made them diminutive floorstanders, sealed alignment. Reminds me very much of the Totem speakers to see them. I'll try to get a better picture up soon.
