*** MAIN PRESENTATION ***
"Introduction to OSGi"
Chris Custine
How do you keep a team scattered across time zones in sync?
OSGi has recently become a hot topic in the Java world,
despite its existence since 1999. OSGi is a huge paradigm
shift in some of the underlying concepts of Java development
and this talk will explore what those changes bring to the
Java developer. In addition to the basic concepts of OSGi,
we will also cover some simple examples of developing and
deploying OSGi services along with recommendations for tools
and utilities to make OSGi development as painless as possible.
Speaker:
Chris Custine is a principal and co-founder of Organic
Element, in addition to being a committer on Apache
ServiceMix and a committer and PMC member on the
Apache Directory Server project. Chris is dedicated to
developing, promoting, and evangelizing enterprise
class open source software from the Apache Software
Foundation. In addition to his open source work,
Chris is a veteran developer of integration middleware
with a long history of experience in the financial
services sector. Chris lives in Boulder, Colorado.
*** BASIC CONCEPTS ***
"Java Web Services meet Native iPhone Applications"
Matthew McCullough
Description:
iPhone development is all the rage both in the mobile
entertainment, social networking, and productivity
application spaces. As a Java developer, you need to
prepare yourself to be a ready participant in this new
breed and platform of development. Hop on board with a
quick start to iPhone application coding (Objective C)
and integration with some of our favorite Java web
service backends such as Axis, Spring-WS, and more.
We'll build out a graphically rich demo application
on the iPhone that depends on and responds to data
from a Java web service and then we'll deploy it
live to the desktop simulator, then a real iPhone.
Speaker:
Matthew McCullough is a 12 year veteran of software
development, a JVM application architect and co-founder
of AmbientIdeas.com. He is an outspoken advocate for the
use of agile-leaning methodologies and open source
libraries in enterprise applications. Matthew currently
is a member of the JCP, participant on the CSIA Planning
Committee, and President of the Denver Open Source Users
Group. Matthew's experience includes successful J2EE,
SOA, and Web Service designs and implementations for
medium to large corporations. Matthew currently resides
in beautiful Denver with his wife and baby daughter,
who all dive into nearly every outdoor activity Colorado
offers.

*** DIRECTIONS ***
We will be meeting at the Tivoli Building which is closest
to the Pepsi Center side of the campus.
The room we are in is 320 AB.
Here's a link to the Campus Map followed by the link to the PDF:

Driving:
The closest parking is in the Tivoli Parking Structure.
The first time we were on-campus some of our
attendees were charged the same rate as the Pepsi Center
Events game parking. If you park in the garage, explain
that you are there for an on-campus event sponsored by
the Metro State Computer Science Department and CCD Life
and that you are to pay the same rate as students attending
other on-campus events.
Do not park in the NE lot - that is for students only.
If you are going to stay late (we often go to Old Chicago
nearby on Market Street after the meeting) you may want to
park in the uncovered parking lot just West of the Tivoli.
Light Rail:
You can take the Light Rail to either the Pepsi Center
or to the Colfax and Auraria Stop.
From the Pepsi Center Light Rail Stop:
Head South, cross Auraria Parkway at the Light.
The Tivoli is the first building as you get to the campus.
From the Auraria Colfax Station:
Head NW on Main Street, past the Library and Media Center.
Continue North until you get to the Tivoli building.
