Hello Thomas,
Welcome to the Charlize user group. Let the Charlize to run in
50~100hrs and the sound will improve a lot. However, you need to have
high efficiency and easy loading speakers as the amp only have good
8w. No need to build a regulated PSU. Driving the Charlize by Switch
Mode PSU (SMPS) or SLA battery will be better. Remove the cap to add
across the PSU rail. This will impede the dynamic & rythmic characters
of the Charlize. Try it!.
SMPS & SLA battery are cheap in HK. So please try them and compare.
For your information, a 12V 5A SMPS cost less than HK$200. A 9AH 12V
SLA battery is approx. HK$100. A cheap SLA charger with 6V/12V
selection sell at HK$65 at Ap Liu Street. Try them out and find out
which you lkie most.
