hi there from the UK! your mention of the Tripath amps, t-amp etc
encouraged me into buying a t-amp to play about and I have to admit
after running the thing straight un-modded for about 5 days I'm
astounded at how really good it is! I guessed it would function well
in my system because I use JBL 4312 mk II monitors which are well loud
plus 90db speakers so those few watts that the t-amps kick out can
easily get them singing! And sing they do! Before I was using a
modified chinese KT88 amp, triode connected. That little £28 (here in
the UK) t-amp is way better for sound stage and dynamics , even detail
amazing! I'm a real convert! I'm running it from a 1 amp wall wart
type power supply thats the first thing I'm going to change , see if I
can get a few more amps into the little beasty!
system sources, CD- Sony X55ES through a Musical Fidelity V.3 valve
buffer stage and a Rega 25 with a Rewired arm, through an Ear 834 p
valve phono stage, interconnects custom gold plated silver wire in teflon.
Something I discovered straight away about the t-amp its ability to
resolve detail in recordings meant that only my silver interconnects
were up to the job, again ...amazing!
