Daniel, here's a place you might want to check out:

http://www.xtechnology.com

They build good computers to order, prices are competitive. Also,
they're one of the few places I've found that have a 3-year warranty,
rather than just a 1-year. And their customer support is great. I
had them build an AMD Athlon 1600 a couple of years ago. Six weeks
ago, it quit running, so I called them. They immediately issued a
return authorization number, I shipped it back, and with no questions
asked they replaced the power supply. They also noticed a potential
problem with the motherboard and replaced that, as well...and doubled
my RAM at no cost to me, for the inconvenience. :o)

Well, the first big one is a proof of concept for Sandy Brown's sleeping
area in her tree. The second one with the two crows may or may not take
place in a future book, can't be too sure at this point, and it establishes
a new character. The rest are mostely concept drawing of places in the
story.

I've considered a graphic novel, but lack the manpower (myself) to get it
done any time soon. Adding images to the current book is a desire, and time
will tell.

We are considering the possibility of selling a tutorial CD.
Currently, a number of tutorials can be found on-line.

First, check out the tutorial section at TheBest3d.com
http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/tuts/index.html

These are mostely mpeg4 format:
http://www.squirreldome.com/dog_tutorial.htm
and they can also be found in the files area of the Dogwaffle group.

We currently don't have a printed manual in the works, although one could
some day be a possibility . You can find the current help system in the
"Help" menu.

Internal brushes are limited in size. The custom brush engine allows
brushes of any size. You can create a custom brush from anything you have
drawn, and then paint with it. See the custom brush selector tool, and be
sure to check out the custom brush tutorial.

Given that paypal worked well for me in getting dogwaffle 1.6, I'm wondering
whether
we're going to get dogwaffle 2.0 available via that method shortly. Any progress
on
this front?

Thanks,

I intend to make this happen sometime this week. Probably over the weekend.
Stay tuned.

Just curious: will a mere download edition work ok or is a CD needed as
an option?

Hi Vesko, thanks for asking. Certainly is a legitimate question. After all,
we're not a big name or entity so why should you even trust us with your
money in the first place.

We don't have a crystal ball so we don't know for sure what the future will
bring. But if the recent past and short history is an indication: version
1.6 came out in July 03, then there were 2 free patches /addons (doggybag #1
and #2) in October and November, and another Sepia filter in December.

It is likely that additional patches will come for v2 as well. In fact we're
currently in beta for such a patch, and we don't know of a reason to make
that a payable one so in all likelihood it will be a free enhancement.
Personally I would expect that for the next 5-6 months there will not be a
major addon, perhaps even longer. I guess it all depends on the success with
this version. If your word-of-mouth helps to sell a lot and pay the bills
we're happy and don't need to raise the fees with new releases. We're too
young for retirement.

But then I don't know what magic Dan is cooking for us all right now :-)

I want to remind everyone that if you're tight on the money (me I'm still
paying off christmas mistakes) and feel that $67 for v2 is a little bit too
much, then perhaps you might want to consider v1.6 at $45 for a while and
upgrade later. In fact, if you upgrade at $19 it's cheaper that way, you
save $3, but the hassle and time is money so if you know you want v2 then
you'll be better off going straight for that. You also will that way have
the full installer of v2 as opposed to a manual zip update archive.

By-the-way, you mentioned "we" in your email. FYI, we do offer site licenses
for 4 or more units. Even 2 or 3 licenses are offered at a preogressive
discount. For site licenses it just needs to be at the same street address.
Don't care if you're a Disney with 500 seats or a school with 40 PCs, it's
all the same as long as it's in the same building or at least the same
postal mail street address.

Dan, anything you want to add?

-Philip

Hi. I bought version 2.0 of Dogwaffle today. One thing that bugs
me is that I can't seem to have the tablet toggle buttons stay
toggled. Also that I want to arrange my work space...for instance
moving the zoom panel but it keeps reappearing below the panel on
the right. The layers palette stays where I put it though. On my
monitor the zoom palette gets cut off at the bottom where it is. I
admit I didn't spend that long looking for a solution but I thought
if I didn't find it right away it wasn't there.

I love the program...using the demo convinced me to buy it. But I
would like to be able to set up the work space so I don't have to
manually do it everytime it starts. That's really my only peeve.
The new features look great by the way.

Thanks,
Paul Laine

Hi again. I just turned off the zoom panel and will use the zoom
tools in the panel above. I should have checked it out a bit better
before my post. But...the toggle buttons staying on for the tablet
would be nice.

Thanks,
Paul Laine

Hi there, we have posted a demo version of Dogwaffle 2.0.

http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/demozone

If you have been hesitating about getting the full version, perhaps
this will assist you in making that decision. Play and enjoy.

There is no time limit to the demo version, but there are limitations.

Hey Philip.

I'm just getting ready to order my upgrade to 2.0 via PayPal, but I did have
a question.

Does the $3.00 S&H fee apply to downloaded version?

I just wanted to double check that before I send the order through.

Rick

Yes it does, thanks for asking. It's for the time to handle and set up the
manual download link. The automated version at DigiBuy doesn't have that.

But it should have no sales tax even in California. Let me know if you see
any issues.

Hi philip,
just wanted to let you know that the vistapro contest on 3dc has ended and the
winners have been chosen, but the official annoucement hasn't been made yet.
Didn't know if you'd gotten the chance to look through the contest gallery or
not yet.

Was also wondering if you ever got the before and after images I made for you a
couple weeks ago?

Does anyone anywhere have any idea why, when I go to download the Dogwaffle 2
Upgrade .zip file, it gets to .87 Kb and stops?

I'm not seeing the problems from here, looks fine to me. What's your
procedure, which web browser version, left click or right click to save etc?
Are you connected by dial up or broadband?

I'm using v1.0, I have the old program... still a goodie though. I
gave up on trying to layer for a while, I neede a little bit of rest
from the comp... I was resorting to chanting and dancing round the
comp hoping the gods could make the layering work...lol

Version 1 suported layering between the main and swap buffers in a number of
modes, but not opaque layering. You accessed layers by right clickiing on
the topmost icon on the right side of the tool panel. This brings up a menu
of options for layer mixing.

Didn't want to leave you hanging....:)))) Got the program downloaded and
installed and ready to go back to work again! Thank you!!!!...May the questions
begin, LOL.

Can I have two or more images open at the same time like in Adobe etc? When I
start a new image and begin to open another one, it appears that I must make a
choice over one or the other....

Open the first one,
copy it to swap buffer,
open the second one.
Now you have 1 window, but 2 images, one in each buffer

That only works if they're the same size. You can also store a buffer and
retrieve it later.
