I've had the original version of Dotcomments on my two blogs since
April 2004...

http://www.baseballrelated.com/
http://www.ellwanger.tv/blog/

...and everything was working fine until sometime near the end of April
2005. Now comments (new and old) aren't actually showing up when
looking at the site, although new comments do get saved as a file (and
e-mailed to me); all posts say "0 comments" and result in "no comments
found," even when there are comments there.

Both my sites are hosted by Dreamhost; the only thing I can see that
might possibly be a problem is that they apparently turned off the
"allow_url_fopen" PHP configuration on April 20th, but that's not
something I see in the Dotcomments scripts (just "@fopen," which I
assume is something different).

Anyone have any ideas?

You may want to check and see if your server's PHP configuration has "register_globals" turned off. I've found that dotcomments requires it to be on in order...
