We formed this group on 2003 October. We found that there was a need for
Independent Linux User Group in Dubai, which is not under any Company. The LUG was meant for Linux Users to share their experience and spread the OpenSource usage.

There are more than 300 members in the LUG mailing list , the mailing list is not moderated for members who are
posting mails which is relevant to OpenSource, Any one who is interested in OpenSource is welcomed to the
Dubai LUG

Some of the activates which Dubai LUG plans to do is that

1> Distribute 5000 Copies of Linux OS along with FAQ, How to DO , and mail support from Dubai LUG to the IT professional , We have not so far able to come to the conclusion which flavour to select .

2> Conducting Seminars in Schools and College and make the awareness of Linux

3> Trying to reach out to the media, and convince them to come out with article on OpenSource
and Linux technology

4> To bring together the isolated Linux users and build up a community, where they can share their
Success Story of Linux migration to the public
