Hello

I was away for the holiday so there is some business to catch up on.
First off, thanks to all of you who braved the storm on 11/19 to join
us for BEA's presentation on the development features available in
8.1. Thanks to Jesper Joergensen from BEA for the excellent
presentation and Diana Gilbert, again from BEA, for the assistance in
orchestrating a successful evening. And I promise not to throw any
Frisbees at future meetings.

On to current business, I was excited to see all the activity on the
Yahoo Group when I got back. That is until I realized it was all spam.
Sorry. I set the group up with pretty lose participation parameters
thinking keeping the pain of entry low would encourage discussion.
Unfortunately that strategy encouraged some of the seamier segments of
Internet society to participate in our group. I have tightened the
reins and now you must be a registered member to post. So please
register and please post.

And now the future, at our next meeting will feature a panel
discussion on Web Services. So far we have Chris Deephouse, GSI
Commerce, and Pete Heist, Compoze Software, on our panel of experts.
We need one more. If you have expertise in this area and would like
to volunteer please contact me as soon as possible.
