My company located in Vienna, VA outside Washington D.C. is looking
for a Weblogic Architect. Below are the details:
FOLIOfn, Inc. is a financial services technology company based in
Vienna, VA (the Washington DC metropolitan area). FOLIOfn's
technology allows investors to invest in new, better ways – providing
cost-effective diversification, and innovative types of investing
accounts managed by advisors and money managers. FOLIOfn's services
are sold through intermediaries such as other brokerages, credit
unions and mutual fund companies and direct to retail and advisors.
FOLIOfn is looking for a Weblogic Architect with experience
integrating applications and managing and upgrading large-scale J2EE
applications. Candidates need to have a minimum of 3 years as a Java
architect using Weblogic, including technology evaluations, analysis
and integration of existing systems as well as ground up design of
new applications. Candidates should have 7-10 years of development
experience, preferably, some of which working with trading
applications and the securities industry.
The successful candidate will need to meet the following criteria:
*7-10 years experience as a developer
*3-5 years as an architect in an enterprise environment
*3+ years working with Weblogic as a J2EE architect
*Strong Java/J2EE/SQL/Sybase/UNIX
*Must have been hands on in the past 2 years
*Experience, knowledge or interest in the financial industry is
helpful
Responsibilities:
*Performing Weblogic, JDK, 3rd party software upgrades ->
specifically, plan and manage the upgrade from Weblogic 5.1 to the
latest, production ready, version of Weblogic. Determine which
features to use and how.
*Design and implementation of new features and functionality
foundation and application layers of the FOLIOfn software
*Refactoring and optimizing the system from past architectural
experience
*Helping junior developers with application server and system best
practices
Skill set:
-Strong J2EE knowledge Required, with emphasis in the following
areas:
*Security: realm, bean and application security
*JMS: have had hands on knowledge Weblogic JMS implementation
*XML / XSL: Xerces / Xalan, parsing, formatting, etc
*JDBC 2.0: connection pools, debugging
*Entity and session bean architecture, lifecycle, caching,
deployment, etc
*Servlet, JSP, (internationalization project is plus)
*Having used open source and Jakarta frameworks is plus
-Strong Weblogic knowledge
*Upgrade experience, major releases and service packs
*Clustering and replication in production environment
*Performance tuning and optimizations with Sun Solaris J2SE
-Database Experience (Sybase experience is a plus)
*Strong SQL and stored procedure (or equivalent)
*Knowledge of reporting databases design and best practices
-UNIX experience (prefer Solaris 2.6-2.8)
*Must have UNIX tools and file system experience
*Be able to use and debug problems relating OS/Kernel
-Network
*Must understand and be able to articulate LAN networks architectures
*Security and firewalls (and impact on application servers)
-Creativity and Motivation
-Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
Other Requirements:
-BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering
-Sun certified J2EE architect (or training)
-Will be on 24/7 production support
-Often long hours due to nature of position and environment
-Good verbal and written communication skills are a must
