General Job Description: RPG Programmer & System Analyst

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for various
activities pertaining to programming and analysis, such as designing,
coding, testing, debugging and implementing complex programs;
analyzing user's requirements; resolving technical issues and other
related functions as required.
While most work will support our custom business system, experience
with the JD Edwards World is highly desirable.
This position will also hold responsibility for operational aspects
related to the AS/400 including, but not limited to: operating
system, hardware, backups, disaster recovery, and upgrades.
• Fluent in RPG, RPGIV, CL, Query 400 and SQL
• An understanding of advanced programming techniques such as
Built in Functions, service programs, and stored procedures.
• JD Edwards Programming experience highly desirable
• Other desirable skill include: LANSA, XML, HTML, and FTP
• Adhere to company change management policy
• In-depth knowledge of AS/400 system architecture, standard
programming development and testing practices,programming
lanuages and tools.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to troubleshoot the work of
other programmers.
• Participate in detail planning with operational and technical
personnel
• Develops functional specifications for new applications or
enhancements to existing applications.
• Manage help tickets and organize work around priorities
assigned by the Help Desk management software tool.
• Attend conferences to keep current in the application field
bringing new technologies and ideas to the company.
• On-call after hours support rotation required
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, focus
and concentrate despite constant interruptions, deal with
difficult and/or upset individuals, work under pressure,
meet inflexible deadlines.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in information
systems, computer science, business administration or
related field.
• Five years of RPG programming experience required. Further
programming experience may substitute for the required
education on a year for-year basis.
