This message is about Human beings, Democracy, UNHCR, Refugees, The Iraqis,

Pavarotti, Giorgio Armani, Donors, Peace, History, Campaigns and about you if
you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here:
http://www.gameroom.com/un4

Where you can read the rest of this message as web page.

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example:

The refugees allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are
supposed to be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html

Here is another example: Burmese Refugees Withdraw Protest Against UNHCR
http://www.mizzima.com/archives/news-in-2005/news-in-april/12-April05-22.htm

"We make demonstration and fast because the UNHCR office in Cairo did nothing
for our problem..." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4440730.stm

Together we will build better world.

You could reach me fast via this form: http://www.unhcr.us/email_me.htm and if
you like to know more about me, you can google for my name 'osam altaee'.

Hi,

We're a company that makes "family documentaries." We're now going to
be offering families their videos on DVD.

My question is... how do I burn a DVD like the pros do? I've burned
personal DVDs before...and sometimes they don't play on one of my
players...

Basically here are my concerns,
1) The DVD not working in a DVD player,
2) The DVD's burned surface wearing out, and
3) The DVD's surface scratching too much.

I want our DVDs to be just like the ones you find at Blockbuster...

How do I do this? Is it a matter of using a certain type of DVD-r? A
certain type of DVD burner? Program?

Thanks,
J.Obar

Hi, thanks for signing me up...

We're a small company that does "family documentaries." We're now going to
be offering families their videos on DVDs and want some information on the
best approach for DVD burning...

Now I've burned a number of my own DVDs in the past...and I'm a bit
concerned because they don't seem to have the same quality (not on-screen
quality, I'm mean disc quality) as a professional DVD you'd rent in a video
store.

Sometimes when I burn a DVD it doesn't play in one of my players...maybe the
player's too weak... but I've never had this problem with a professional
DVD.

I'm also afraid that the DVDs I burn for our company will "wear out" ...
again, not with regards to the on-screen stuff, but with regards to the
physical disc itself...making it more difficult for the DVD player to read
it.

Essentially what I want to know is, how can I burn a DVD just like the pros
do?

How can I create a DVD that's going to last as long as theirs do?

Is it a matter of buying certain blank DVDs? Does it matter what type of
burner I use? Program?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi,
First of all, thanks for allowing me to join the group.
I have problems with my family videos. It began to freeze some scenes,
then stop. I tried using different medias like HP, Panasonic, Memorex,
etc. Some freeze after burn, some not. I talked to a Panasonic
tecnichian on USA about my problem using a DVD Recorder and she told
me that Memorex medias are not good because they are unstable. She
recommend Sony (japan), TDK, and of course Panasonic.
Also I burn in a DVD burner (Sony) on my computer.
Someone told me about the recording speed; less speed, much stable. Is
this correct?
Please advice.

Where can i get some information of IHD. I have great interest in
IHD, but have no idea about it by now. In my opinion, it should be
add some interactive functions to HD-DVD. Hope some one can give
some information. Thanks a lot.

i recently started authoring DVD content, ive done a couple of titles
with no really interesting use of DVDs special features like multiple
angles and such.

ive been researching what innovative work has been done, so far ive
seen a couple of DVD games (by that im ean the kind that will run on a
home dvd not a computer dvd drive) like "tender love care" or "who
shot johnny rock". i also leanred about music videos and movies(like
the beasty boys' "sabotage" or "the abyss")make use of multiple
angles. oh yeah and the porn industry does it too (i will check this
now that i have a offical excuse to buy dvd porn).

i just want to ask if anyone here knows of more examples where movie
DVDs have been used in an innovative way that uses DVDs special
features beyond the tipical, "making of", multiple language things you
see on most movie titles. thanx.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm a multimedia student in Turkey and I am working on a project as a

For my project I need help. If you can help me, I will very happy.
I am preparing a movie in dvd format. And I am tryig to put an html
link at the beginning of

the movie.

Briefly, I want to put an html link into a dvd menu. In other words,
I want to do something

like this:
When I put a DVD-CD into a computer, and open dvd menu; if I click on
a button it will open

an html page. I want to learn how I can add that button. I hope I
could explain clearly.

Thank you very much

Hi everyone.

Got a long story I'll try to keep real short. I have been asked by a
person to author a DVD-9. They want many 1000s of them replicated
with all the bells and whistles e.g Macrovision, CSS etc etc.
The problem I have is a lack of experience. At first I was going to
turn the job down but then thought about it and came to the
conclusion it will be a good learning curve.

I have made lots of DVD's using DVDit, Reel DVD and DVD Producer.
However, this project will require Scenarist, which I have, but gave
up on because of a few difficulties ages ago.

I was wondering if there is any kind people out there who have
experience in......

DVD-9s, Scenarist, DLT tape drives and working with Replication
plants whom I could email up to five or six times over the next
three or four months, to guide me in these areas.

If you dont find it too insulting I'd be happy to pay for your time.
I'd prefer to stick with private email simply because it will mean
discussing a clients job.

Please email me at dvd1@...

Thanks

For your DVD to look good, you have to have a good encoder. Push button
systems where you just import your AVI and let the program encode are no
good.
If you have Premiere 6.5, it comes with an MPEG-2 encoder that will do a
much better job for you. If you have an earlier version of Premiere, you'll
have to get a good quality MPEG-2 encoder. For PC, I would suggest Canopus
Procoder but that will cost you about $700.
If you can then import these files into power producer rather than letting
it encode, you can still use it as your authoring program. If you can't
import your encoded files with it, you'll need a new authoring program. It
should allow you to import but I have no idea.

Hi All,
I am a newbie and I have tried searching the archives but
unfortunately, the search facility is not working at mo.
My Problem- I use Premiere to capture DV from my camcorder, I then
mix edit etc until I am happy with the result.
Then I burn to DVD-R (currently with Power Producer) to create a
DVD. The DVD actually plays OK in my mate's player but the quality
is significantly lower than the original material from the camcorder.

At last my question - is it power producer that is losing the
quality when it converts from the DV AVI or should I be exporting
from Premiere in a different Format?

Are there any better resonably priced (Free??) DVD authoring
programs? I also have EZCD creator v6 if that is any good.

You help will be appreciated.

To scenarist people:

I am mainly a frellancer. I usually use Impression Pro from Pinnacle,
but another company hired me to do a project in Scenarist which they
have, told me they bought a while back but no one there had ever used
before (they have an AVID and a couple of decent editors on staff). It
is not 2.7. They need a hot demo produced and like my Impression stuff
because I do really good MPEG-2 VBR and own a ProTools HD system which
I am remixing some of their stuff to 5.1 for the demo.

I don't want to hand them up as they have been good to me over the
years. If this software is not legal, I will not continue the job on
it. I will discuss it with the owner today.

Hi:

I am at a loss. The terrible manual for Scenarst NT is driving me
crazy. Can some nice person please explain exactly how to use SPRM 14
to determine how the DVD player is set for aspect ratio.

I want to make a demo disc with both 4:3 and 16:9 content mixed. I am
putting two video tracks on the title, one in 4:3, the other 16:9. It
will be the same material, the 4:3 will have letterboxed widescreen
material, and on the 16:9 track the 4:3 will be "windowboxed."

I'd like to read SPRM 14 and choose Video 2 for a DVD player set for
16:9, and video 1 if it is set to 4:3.

Thank you to anyone who helps!
