Description
This is an abundant 50+ year old 45 acre family farm in Southern Costa Rica. Our focus is to create a natural, sustainable farm that includes organic and heirloom plant culture, reforestation, coffee, bananna trees, and many varities of fruits We have on-going projects for this farm including: veggie gardens, coffee plants, composting, fruit orchards, trail making, and reforestation. We are looking into alternative energy sources (solar, hydro and wind). We have a 2 bedroom house, a 7 bed mixed volunteer dorm, tent spaces and plans to build cabanas for self sustaining living, Eco Tourism and Personal Growth Seminars. If you want to learn or have ideas and skills to teach others, we welcome you to this group and to our farm. We have programs for a few days visit up to stays of a year or more. Rosie & I & our granddaughter are hosts. We have one local worker/partner, Cris, who manages the farm in our absence. We are in southern Costa Rica near San Isidro and Uvita. The farm is on a ridge at 2,300 feet elevation with 5 acres of shade coffee, 10,000 new coffee plants, established fruit orchards with multitudes of bananas, plantans, coconuts, star fruit, mango, and many more varieties. We are planting seeds and building new vegetable gardens. We have 10,000 2 to 3 year old hardwood trees. There is a large river at the bottom of the land with more opportunities for creative development. If you would like to come to our farm, email us with the approximate dates and the skills you would like to share or learn. We do appreciate any help with networking and associating with other like-minded folks. We have home sites available for long term volunteers and investors. Prices includes lodging and 3 community veggie meals daily: Guest $24 a day no work; guest worker $12 a day 6hrs work a day; 3 week volunteer $6 a day 6hrs work a day,5 on 2 off. 3 month intern $3 a day. This helps supplement the high cost of hosting and feeding volunteers in Costa Rica. We have 3G internet.
