Dear SIG members,
as announced in the last activity report, we are facing the
necessity of moving our mailing list elsewhere. The reason is that
the free service offered by Yahoo, which we have been using so far,
is ad-sponsored, and for this reason the address is blacklisted by
some institutions to which our members belong. Besides, concerns
have been raised by some of our members about a possible relation
between yahoo and spammers.
In these weeks I have been working to find an alternative solution. To
make short a long history, the simplest and easiest solution turned
out to be hosting the mailing list locally, on a server of
this University. The list has been created and it is now running. I
have done some tests and everything seems working fine. In a
few minutes, you should receive a welcome message, containing
instructions, and a password by which you can access the web
interface and change your settings - if you ever need.

To post to the list simply send your message to

ecasig5@...

This is probably all what you need to know. But if you want to change
your settings (delivery frequency, email address etc.) you can login
at the web interface:

http://listes.uhp-nancy.fr/wws/info/ecasig5

with your subscribed email address, and the password you are going to
receive in the welcome message. There you can configure your
settings. In case of problems, simply write me at
nespolo@...

The list is configured as it was so far, namely replies go to the
sender. If you want to reply to the entire list, hit "reply to all"
in your mail client.

Althought I did all the tests I could think of, only the real use of
the list can reveal some imperfections which may have escaped to my
check. I shall work on improvements as soon as any problem pops-up
(hopefully there won't be, but in these things Murphy's law rules...)
Your understanding is appreciated.

The Yahoo list is going to be deactivated as soon as you are
subscribed to the new list. It won't be deleted, however, because it
contains the archive of our past activity.

Let me know if you experience any difficulties.
