Jst joined the group. Originally from Malta but living in the UK
since 72, so this mail caught my eye.
The biggest benefit for Malta at least will be the tightening of
financial discipline on budgets and other economic activities.
Politically Malta is quite stable though totally polarized but most
locals trust the EU more than the govt. to persue a viable future
within a wider market.
In the short time that detail negotiations have been going on, one
can see the urge by Govt. to put things right to make accession
possible. That alone will help Malta and I am sure other 'emerging'
nations in Europe are in similar positions.
