Re: speculating on LNG

Good post, Lynn.

A few numbers stand out:

1) LNG will account for 15% of US gas supply in 2025.

2) US total gas consumption will increase by 23% by 2025.

That means that in 2025 the US will consume 27 to 28 trillion cu.ft.
of NatGas. If 85% of that is domestic (N America), then US
extraction of domestic NatGas is actually projected to RISE by
almost 5% from the present 22 to 23 trillion cu.ft.

Where the heck is the US going to get that much domestic natural gas
21 years from now?!?

All the drilling in ANWR, off the California coast, in every
national park in the nation and all across Canada is not going to
bring us that much gas 21 years from now.

Someone in the Dept. of Energy has been breathing the fumes for too
long.

In September, the US Department of Energy predicted that LNG would
account for 15 per cent of US gas consumption by 2025, compared to 1
per cent in 2002. US demand for natural gas is projected to grow by
23 per cent over the same period, and the forecasts for Europe and
Asia are just as striking.
