Hello all,
I realized I hadn't been able to announce a previous security fix,
which I apologize profusely. So, I'm writing about it now! Previously,
I've been alerted to two specific security holes in Enthusiast 3.0 --
the join form (which is, like any other web form, vulnerable to
spammers) and the login processes of Enth.
That said, please secure your Enth 3.0 installations by downloading
the two security fixes at
http://scripts.indisguise.org/enthusiast/download.php?select=3&agree=yes&cat=11
-- they are called the Join Form Security fix, and the Login Security
fix. Installing them simply means overwriting your Enth installation
files with the files in these zips.
Rest assured that these holes have been addressed in Enthusiast 3.1
since the start of the beta test, but I'm still continously improving
the release and smoothing out small kinks. :)
xx Angela
Hello,
Enth 3.1 is now in beta testing (not yet released, but soon!), and I'm
looking for a couple of beta testers. :) For more information about
the release and the need for beta testers, go here:
http://scripts.indisguise.org/enthusiast/callforbeta3_1.php
If you want confirmation if I received your form, send an email to
seasonalplume-at-gmail.com to ask, and I'll check and get back to you. :)
Angela
Hello,
Meep, I haven't posted in this announcement list in a while! I
apologize; there isn't really much going on in Enthusiast-land.
However, the Collective Stats Addon, version 1.1, has been released!
With this new version of this addon, one can show:
1. the cumulative growth rate of all your listings
2. the total number of fans for your listings (pending, approved, and
combined)
3. the rate at which you join fanlistings
4. the rate at which you open listings
5. random and newest joined fanlisting, as you can with owned previously
Please go to the Enthusiast 3 download area to get the new version,
listed under Modifications. :) Hope you like it!
Also, a new FAQ section is up at the newly-revamped Indiscripts,
though it still needs work, content-wise. Hehe.
Angela
http://scripts.indisguise.org/
Hello,
I just uploaded another bugfix.
One error found is that a query error happens when searching for a
joined listing by selecting a status and a search string at the same time.
The next error doesn't happen always (I'm not sure what made it
happen, either) but nevertheless, if you're having problems editing
member information in the admin panel (i.e., a query error happens),
this bugfix should fix it.
If you have downloaded the Enth3 full zip after today (26 September
2004), you do not need this bugfix.
The URL for the bugfixes are:
http://scripts.indisguise.org/enthusiast.php?type=download&select=3&agree=yes&ca\
t=11
Sincerely,
Angela
http://scripts.indisguise.org/http://indisguise.org/
Enthusiast 3 has been publicly released. :) This version of Enthusiast
differs greatly from Enthusiast 2: Enth3 is a two-part system which
combines a listing collective system and a listing management system,
allowing users to manage both their collectives and all fanlistings in
one admin panel. To see a live Enth3-run collective and fanlistings,
please feel free to check out http://aking-mahal.net. The full feature
list can be found on Indiscripts (it's too long to be posted here XD).
There are also screencaps of the admin panel there.
Enthusiast (2/3) is linkware, meaning, it is offered for free download
and use AS LONG AS A LINK BACK TO INDISCRIPTS IS GIVEN, on all sites
it is running on (fanlistings and collectives). Any and all inline
links (the ones embedded on the source code) must not be removed. This
is the ONLY payment, to give me credit where it's due.
When installing and configuring Enthusiast 3, it is EXTREMELY
IMPORTANT to read ALL of the included text -- all three text files,
and all in its entirety. Failure to do so will surely give you a lot
of errors, and I am not liable for any of those. I WILL NOT ANSWER
PERSONAL EMAILS REGARDING TROUBLESHOOTING ENTH3, so please do NOT
email me. If you come across problems that are not answered in any of
the provided text files, please direct your questions at the
Enthusiast Support Forum
(http://codegrrl.com/forums/index.php?showforum=26).
I hope you like the script. :) It can be found at the Enthusiast page
at Indiscripts: http://scripts.indisguise.org/enthusiast.php
This mailing list is also now being converted into an
announcement-only list. I might not post all announcements as Special
Notices, just as a heads-up to those of you who are on Special
Announcements. :)
Also, many thanks to these people who have beta tested Enthusiast 3! <3333
Sincerely,
Angela
I fixed this with the released script. ;)

However, I just noticed that if you enter in a comment for a joined

won't go. :P You can change what it says (and I actually got it to

I tried clearing my cache and that still didn't help, so I think

Hi,
I've uploaded a new set of bugfixes, it's the 19th, and includes the

me the full include snippet for the upcoming listings page that you
used? Thanks.
For me, today is Friday night, 10:50 PM as of this writing. I plan to
release it tomorrow night at the latest, PLEASE try out the bugfixes
ASAP and let me know if things work out fine, and the URLs I will link
to for those of you who haven't emailed me personally/posted yet.
PLEASE let me know. That's 24 hours from this message. Actually, less

So, we need to upload the new files you updated, or is it not
needed? I haven't tried out the joined FL's and collective features,
as I haven't put those up yet, but on the FL I did use Enth,
everything's a-okay *continues her cheer* hehe ;)
As for the collective URL, http://fanatically.org for me. I'll be
converting all to enth soon.

Thanks for clearing it up! *glomps j00 again*

I mean the upcoming page on my site and my friend's (Charles'),
upcoming.php, where we display the fl's we're building. There's a
javascript 'go back' on the page in both my collective and Charles',
and I just checked Anna's (I think) because I remembered the url:
http://fan.drowned-world.net/upcoming.phphttp://chaz.drowned-world.net/upcoming.phphttp://www.obsess-much.com/upcoming.php
It's not on any other Enth-driven page on any of these sites, which I
thought was odd and therefore worth mentioning (esp. since I loathe
javascript enough not to use it myself heh).
My code for the upcoming page is below:
<? include("header.inc");?>
<h3>Upcoming Fanlistings</h3>
<?php include 'config.php';
$status = 'upcoming';
$hide_dropdown = true;
$show = 'all';
include $path . 'show_owned.php'; ?>
<? include("footer.inc");?>
I don't think it shows up on your collective because you have no
upcoming fanlistings. Can anyone else check their upcoming pages?
Am I going insane?

Hey :)
So I am trying a new fanlisting script because I have no hope of
fixing the error I've run into with PHPfanbase for one of my newest
fanlistings. Enth seems pretty popular, so I figured I'd try it.
I installed it once, found it extremely confusing, and ended up
getting some errors, so I deleted it, and tried to install PHPfanbase
again, praying it would work, and it didn't. So. I am back to Enth
again.
The install.txt was useless for me. I had no idea what I was doing.
There were so many files! O.O;; So really, I can't believe I even got
the script to show up.
Is there anyway someone could right a really indepth tutorial about
the installation process? Like...every single step? I'm a bit of a
slow learner.
I'd really appreciate any help!
- haley
Additional Notes:
1. A fresh installation with no joined fanlistings creates an SQL
error on the joined page of the newly installed collective.
2. This is a nitpick and not a bug ;) : The joined page with drop down
says this: 'The dropdown only shows fanlistings with fanlistings
listed under them.' Should the first fanlistings be 'categories'?
3. I noticed that the upcoming page has a javascript 'Go Back' option,
but joined and owned do not. Is that intentional?
That's all for the moment. Mostly trivial stuff! I'm really enjoying
the alphabetised drop down box *nerdy dance*. I was hoping that would
be implemented!
I'm done for now. It's looking great, Angela!

Hey Angela,
No problems here. :)
My collective url is http://fan.forgotten-lore.net. The collective
isn't using Enth yet as some of my fanlistings still have to be
converted, but that will be done soon.
I'm available to answer questions on both TFL and CodeGrrl. I haven't
been to CodeGrrl much lately because there wasn't a need but I can
start checking in more in case there are questions.
Kyrie
Hey Angela,
I've just installed the core enth directory for my friend and I
noticed that the password (to be used later to login to enth) is NOT
required to install Enth -- being a dimwitted person installing stuff
after midnight, I managed to install enth without setting a password.
I had made an error and the installation didn't go through. I skipped
back with a mouse gesture and fixed the problem, but forgot to retype
the password. The installation went through regardless, except I
couldn't login when done.
I had to download the reset pass file to fix the problem.
Is it possible to require a password, or installation cannot proceed?
Ally (pst: everything's going fine now that I've had my one drama for
the evening.)
I haven't been able to apply any of the latest bugfixes as I still
can't access the folder. I sent a couple of e-mails, but I don't think
they got through.
Could someone with the new password shoot it off to me at
allyoops.at.gmail.com? Thanks!

Hello!
I'm planning to release Enth3 this weekend. Please, if you have found
bugs and stuff, please let me know. The enth3.zip file has been
updated, as well as convertfanbase.zip and enth2upgrade.zip (though
the only change I made for the latter is taking off the personal

If you don't find any bugs, please just say so as well. A simple "it's
fine here" or something will do. I need to know if people have at
least applied the latest bugfixes and if they've used it, please. Thanks.
I will also be "advertising" your sites on the release, as a thank-you
to you guys, so please email/post the collective URL where Enth3 is
running, so that I know where to link to.
Lastly, I would like to request for some help if you have the time to
answer most of the common questions people will be asking, either on
the TFL board (I will be posting there, so I expect a few people will
be asking on that thread) or the Enth support forum at CodeGrrl;
again, if you can, I will totally appreciate it. :)
This announcement mailing list will be announcement-only once I post
on the MBoard and sent a special notice here, but until then you guys
can post ;)
Angela
Ok, so the reason I haven't posted in forever is that I've been super
busy. Today I decided that I had to get on the ball, and so, I haven't
upgraded my enh3 since the pw fix thing, that's when I took a break
that is. Well, somehow, I've misplaced the url and authorization stuff
for the beta stuff, so could someone tell me that info again? Sorry
for the inconvience..

Thanks for letting me know, Ramy! I've fixed it with this 18th bugfix, plus
added links back to Indiscripts on the joined/owned lists :X
Plus-- I hope there are those who will like this new feature (meep), but I made
it possible to not use a dropdown menu for selecting a category on the public
joined/owned lists. :) Just add one variable to your
joined/owned/current/upcoming PHP snippet:
$show_list = true;
And you should get a bulletted list. :) It's running on http://aking-mahal.net

Plus-- I hope there are those who will like this new feature (meep), but I made
it possible to not use a dropdown menu for selecting a category on the public
joined/owned lists. :) Just add one variable to your
joined/owned/current/upcoming PHP snippet:
$show_list = true;
And you should get a bulletted list. :) It's running on http://aking-mahal.net
right now :)

Hmmm...everything else worked fine - including the NL-ConvertToPHP
fix - but now my upcoming page is broken. I noticed this same error
on your collective, too, Angela, a day or so ago, but now it's
gone. :\ And this error happens on the upcoming.php page and the
site.php?upcoming page, so it's not NL-ConvertToPHP doing it. :(
Here is the error:

Hello,
I've uploaded big/clear screenshots of the admin panel for Enthusiast
3 at Indiscripts:
http://scripts.indisguise.org/enthusiast.php?type=caps :) Many thanks
to Ally whose caps had been on this page before I was able to make
them. :) They may be useful if you're curious what Enth3 can do and
what the admin panel looks like, especially since a demo installtion
is not available.
As you can see, we're gearing up for release. ;)
Always,
Angela
