RE: [epods] Re: FRESH XP MOD HACK SUCCESSFUL next step. wireless wpc11

Hector!  Welcome to the wonderful world of ePods!   Speed... is NOT of the
essence...

At this time, only IE4 is available for the OS.  This can be somewhat limiting
where newer websites and services do not work on it.  I've been trying do hack
my ePod with Linux, but no luck yet.

The BeePod hack is very nice, a little cleaner than the XP1 hack.  If you can do
one, you can certainly get the system to the other.

I keep a small cadre of websites that I use my ePod for; the mulitstate
Powerball (national lottery) comes up just fine.  I can get to my Yahoo! mail
(if I use the link directly to the "old style" mail).  The AOL IM application
also works quite nicely.

Through HPCFactor.com, I've also found a lot of MIPS 4000 applications, and used
a CE version of PowerPoint to turn my ePod into an electronic billboard for a
trade show once.  That was fun, and it worked well.

I've been programming Ubuntu, and love this little Linux OS.  I have it migrated
practially all of my systems over to it, and hope to get it working on my ePod
some time soon.  That comes with a very robust Firefox web browser.

Good luck!

Rade

THE LATEST UPDATE.

I have my control panel back thanks!!

I am able to navigate to websites.... ......... ... super slo mo...

the Prism application indicates 100% on link and signal strength, association
with router via dhcp is working, I decided to enter the routers dns for both
secondary and primary in the network control panel for the linksys, I did not
want to go static but assumed if it at least had the dns it might help (crossed
fingers) I cannot say that by entering the DNS this has helped my connection or
made it so slow, Ive been trying to bring up adobe.com for the last 5 minutes,
it shows in the PRISM2 Wireless Settings window the throughput for both Tx and
Rx that there is activity. but so far no adobe.com

Also connectivity between the epod and my router keeps dropping every 5-20
minutes it registers connection quality to zero then 3 seconds later it comes
back.

I decided to copy the 4 prism files to my WIN_CE folder so that at hard reset I
dont have to reinstall the driver, I also edited the registry entry to reflect
the location of the prismstat program to reside on the storage card.

I have been trying to re-write the registry to send temporaty internet files to
the storage card also but not working.

I deleted almost all WAV files except ERROR and EXCLAM, I turned off soounds,
(trying to maximize base storage/memory)

well it now as been 15 minutes and adobe just came up ( I been typing and
glancing over)

Im curious is there Flash available or java for CE/epods?

another thing that does happen every now and then... the wireless card upon
startup wont work, something seems to knock it out... for the most part when it
does work upon startup the power and link lights hold green then blink a few
times and stay on, but when it feels like being naughty the lights go off and it
seems to knock out connectivity to the Storage card also because any shortcuts
have the icons removed, I end up having to soft reset like 3-4 times and then it
all works ok again. Im ready to try the BEE POD modification to see if I get
better results in stability.

ttyl and thanks for your input and experience with this device...

Im off to customize more of it and see how far I can get...

The PRISM driver is a good, general, all purpose wireless driver.  I used it with a NetGear MA 301, and it works fine.    ________________________________ ...

Ah yes!  The XP hack does not like having two control panel files (.cpl) in the Windows directory.  If you copy the PRISM cpl file someplace else (like...
