The PRISM driver is a good, general, all purpose wireless driver. I used it
with a NetGear MA 301, and it works fine.

Ah yes! The XP hack does not like having two control panel files (.cpl) in the
Windows directory. If you copy the PRISM cpl file someplace else (like
applications), your control panel will return, and when you then look under
Applications, you will see the Prism control panel icon.
Sorry, I could have mentioned that sooner.

THE LATEST UPDATE.
I have my control panel back thanks!!
I am able to navigate to websites................ super slo mo...
the Prism application indicates 100% on link and signal strength, association
with router via dhcp is working, I decided to enter the routers dns for both
secondary and primary in the network control panel for the linksys, I did not
want to go static but assumed if it at least had the dns it might help (crossed
fingers) I cannot say that by entering the DNS this has helped my connection or
made it so slow, Ive been trying to bring up adobe.com for the last 5 minutes,
it shows in the PRISM2 Wireless Settings window the throughput for both Tx and
Rx that there is activity. but so far no adobe.com
Also connectivity between the epod and my router keeps dropping every 5-20
minutes it registers connection quality to zero then 3 seconds later it comes
back.
I decided to copy the 4 prism files to my WIN_CE folder so that at hard reset I
dont have to reinstall the driver, I also edited the registry entry to reflect
the location of the prismstat program to reside on the storage card.
I have been trying to re-write the registry to send temporaty internet files to
the storage card also but not working.
I deleted almost all WAV files except ERROR and EXCLAM, I turned off soounds,
(trying to maximize base storage/memory)
well it now as been 15 minutes and adobe just came up ( I been typing and
glancing over)
Im curious is there Flash available or java for CE/epods?
another thing that does happen every now and then... the wireless card upon
startup wont work, something seems to knock it out... for the most part when it
does work upon startup the power and link lights hold green then blink a few
times and stay on, but when it feels like being naughty the lights go off and it
seems to knock out connectivity to the Storage card also because any shortcuts
have the icons removed, I end up having to soft reset like 3-4 times and then it
all works ok again. Im ready to try the BEE POD modification to see if I get
better results in stability.
ttyl and thanks for your input and experience with this device...
Im off to customize more of it and see how far I can get...

Hector! Welcome to the wonderful world of ePods! Speed... is NOT of the
essence...
At this time, only IE4 is available for the OS. This can be somewhat limiting
where newer websites and services do not work on it. I've been trying do hack
my ePod with Linux, but no luck yet.
The BeePod hack is very nice, a little cleaner than the XP1 hack. If you can do
one, you can certainly get the system to the other.
I keep a small cadre of websites that I use my ePod for; the mulitstate
Powerball (national lottery) comes up just fine. I can get to my Yahoo! mail
(if I use the link directly to the "old style" mail). The AOL IM application
also works quite nicely.
Through HPCFactor.com, I've also found a lot of MIPS 4000 applications, and used
a CE version of PowerPoint to turn my ePod into an electronic billboard for a
trade show once. That was fun, and it worked well.
I've been programming Ubuntu, and love this little Linux OS. I have it migrated
practially all of my systems over to it, and hope to get it working on my ePod
some time soon. That comes with a very robust Firefox web browser.
Good luck!
Rade

Well so far I have been fooling around with this lil machine day and
night. I will post detailed results and upload programs that I have
found to work, but are not listed here.
well.... I have the linksys wp11 card revision 3 I am using
activesynch to get my files and drivers on to the machine, I also have
a card reader since active sync is rather slow...
well I installed the wl100 driver:
Compaq WL100 Wireless LAN PC Card SP15585
Driver V. 1.04.05 for Windows CE 2.11 Devices October 19, 2000
I can get a dhcp address no problem, sometimes I can get the
http://google.com/palm search page to come up again sometimes.
when I run the wl100stat program I can see my routers mac address and
I can see rx and tx bits, here is the crazy one... when I run the
Vxtools under system (in the xpmod) I try to sync to a time server. no
go. it bombs out, sometimes the unit locks up and not even a hard
reset will do, I have to remove the wireless card and then the system
reboots and on top of everything it resets my machine and I have to
start all over, i.e. reintsall drivers. from my experience with the
xpepods hack I have very very sporatic internet connectivity, and when
it locks up the whole machine resets. does anyone have a stable OS
running more than a few hours? with wireless connectivity?
Im ready to throw this away. Im wondering if maybe a different
wireless card would perform better, but after reading several hundred
pages here and at linux hacker most people reported more success with
the wpc11 card than any other. does someone have any suggestions?
I have an Epods for sale. Hardly ever used. Not a scratch on it. Just
a toy for a few months. I boxed it up and forgot about it, but am
cleaning out closets and there it was. Has all written materials and
original box. AC adaptor isn't original, but fires it up fine.
My ebay is nightowl_rn and I have 100% feedback.
Please contact angelmax11@... if interested.
Cleaning out my storage...
I have a pair of ePods available. Last I played
with them, one of them had some problems with the
battery holding a charge, or the battery level
metering -- it was a bit erratic. The other was
ok. Both have an old ePods XP hack -- it's been
a while since I last touched these things. There's
also a Proxim Symphony card and access point, which
works with the RangeLAN driver on the ePods.
The ePods and the wirless gear are available for the
cost of shipping. I need to get these out of here ASAP
while I've got some downtime to deal with this stuff.
Paypal only.

Hi Bill,
I would love to give the ePods a new home and have the chance of 'playing'
with an ePod.
I have been scouring eBay for ages for one.
Where are you based? Would you be willing to ship to the U.K.?
Regards,
Patrick.

I have an epods that I started to play with but didnt have time for
unfortunately.
It has a wifi card with it and a memory card (cant remember the size as I am
at work). PSU, box and I *think* there is a manual/handbook.
I have had it about 8 months sat in a box gathering dust.
if anyone wants to pay postage and the £40 that i paid for it, you can have
this one.
I am based near manchester UK.

Sorry to hi jack this email but I wanted to let you guys know that I have an
epod that has been sitting on my shelf for sometime now and I am interested in

but I lost interest and I kind of forgot about it.

Excellent!
These are nice little devices. [When the rest of life does not intervene and I
have time to actually kick around on one] I find them quite useful. I am also
kind of a Linux geek, and have several "Linux on flash" modules sitting in the
wings to try out.
Enjoy!

Many thanks to all that have offered ePods to me.
I have now managed to secure one from a forum member in the U.K.
[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I have been an ePod owner for just 24hrs and I'm afraid I am
scratching my head (although I am very pleased with my new toy!).
I have transferred the prism cab file to a CF and inserted it in the
ePod. I then ran filestor navigated to the cab file and double tapped
to execute the file. The system then tells me it is unable to open the
file. I have tried a couple of versions of the cab file, just to make
sure I didn't have a corrupt file.
Also when I boot he ePod, I get the message 'cannot find epods (or one
of its components). Make sure the path and file name are correct and
that all required libraries are available.
I have also had problems copying files from the CF to the epods\ifc
directory, in order to use ActiveSync.
Is there a way I can take the ePod back to its factory state? I will
then know exactly what has been installed.
I suppose I should read the manual but I am suffering from kid with
new toy syndrome!

Hi. I wonder if you would be good enough to take me through the syntax
when you ran cmd. I dont know whether I am very tired or very thick
but I can't seem to be able to copy the necessary files across to the
epods from my CF.
Thanks in advance.
I now have my ePods up and running with the XP1 hack.
My thanks to all who contributed to the file section. All the software
and tutorials I needed were there, including the DOC soldering tutorial.
I did not go down the ActiveSync route but transferred files from a CF
card (I finally remembered the copy command syntax!).
Thanks too to Rade for his words of encouragement.
Let the fun begin!
Can someone post a picture of the battery pack, and or a schematic of
it. I need to see if I can make a new one, because I got an epods one
from the swap meet and its missing the battery pack. Thank You Very Much
Hi Everyone,
I need some cash so it's time to say goodbye to my epod. It's completely hacked
and runs beautifully. I've been using it as an ebook reader with mobireader and
it has never run out of battery power - the battery is in excellent condition.
The screen is in excellent shape
I'll entertain all serious offers. Payment can be by check, money order, or any
paypal meathod.
I figure priority mail shipping within the US will be ~$10.
Thanks,
Joshua
