A Couple Hints: Profiling; Drivers   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #84233 of 103335 |
1-Most probably know this but updated Epson drivers sometimes lurk under
different models' pages. I haven't tested the latest yet, but, for example,
the Epson 1160 pages drivers stop at one released last July! The 880 and
1280 pages have drivers released more recently.

2-Until the next great thing comes along, I have been happy with WiziWYG.
The scanner profile is excellent and the printer profiling is working quite
well for me. Some tips gleaned from the WiziWYG technical staff. When
outputting the target, I increased the resolution to 150 in the Photoshop
Image Size dialog (MAC). Use Nearest Neighbor resampling. Print with No
Color Adjustment and RGB space (unchecked) in the final Print Dialog window.
When scanning for profile creation, I used 100 percent and 150 dpi-this
creates a file size of about 5 MB. As far as I understand, your scan
resolution should be at least 150 dpi. Some scanners have a Calibration Scan
mode-if yours does, use it; now your acquisition software is not influencing
how the target is read.

THANKS

My mistake on the drivers. Saw a screen shot with Gamma option that looked like Mac for an 1160. I guess the 1160 driver is unlikely to be updated? - Turn off...

... Well--- I wonder. HP made more than one update to the driver for it's 4MP laser-jet printer quite some time after that printer had exited production, or so...
