Yes, Mack has grown up very nicely.........all 70 pounds of him.
Annie is:
Haying days and I go back (40+ years) to when we used the hay fork, had the trip rope to release the bales into the mow from the fork and as a young kid would unhook the pull rope from the tractor tongue, and drag it back to be hooked up to the tractor again to pull the next rack load up. As I grew, I started driving the tractor/baler which lead to my brother and I fulfilling our summers doing custom baling (in between doing our own)........we prayed for a rainy day simply b/c we wanted a day off! : ) When DH and I met, he had the exact same baler as we had and I continued driving (DH stacking).
As a young gal, I was in the haymow stacking bales with several other neighbors. When the hay was released from the fork, each one of us had a bale to stack........but it was also our job to holler loud enough telling Dad to trip the fork in the right spot. Nowadays, I unload the bales (off the rack), elevating them into the haymow while DH and sons stack.
I really don't know what a summer would be like w/o baling hay. We have one (possibly 2) more cuttings/crops to do.........looking for a dry week's forecast. : )
Happy 4th of July!

Peg, that is another nice picture! Mack has certainly grown up, Fanny too, she's just finished being in heat and is very happy to join the crowd again. I haven't heard anything about Annie? Who is she and where did she come from? Glad you had a good haying, hope you have a nice Fourth!

Subject: [esfarmdog] Haying time/Happy 4th of JulyWe're busy as usual on the farm and especially trying to cut/rake/bale
hay w/o getting it rained upon. Today was the second cutting (crop)
and was able to get it all done w/o rain..........yeahhh!
I've made it an annual thing for me to take a group photo of the dogs
lined up on the hayrack after the last bale has been elevated/stacked
in the (barn) haymow. I then place this photo on my website (links
page).
Here's our '09 photo taken late this afternoon:
