their uses . There will be lots of seeds and cuttings to share plus an
in-depth plant handout will be provided.

Compost/Harvest/Sprout
Evelyn Giddings will lead this hands-on workshop where you will build a
compost pile, harvest a pile that is "ready" to use, and learn to
sprout using the fresh compost. We will sprout sunflowers, buckwheat,
wheat grass and salad greens. Composting can be seen as a kind of
culinary alchemy in which a balanced recipe of ingredients is mixed in
a pile. As the mixture breaks down it generates heat, which accelerates
the process, and transforms it into finished compost, "gardener's
gold". This "gold" is a perfect medium for sprouting, and produces food
of higher quality than ordinary soil. A detailed booklet of composting
methods will also be provided.
May 27th

ReMake It!  "Eco Chic"  Fashion
Have a closet full of garments you do not wear anymore? Rather than
discarding or donating those garments, give them a new life and gain a
unique personal style by remaking them.  In this workshop we will roll
up our sleeves, let down our hair and throw caution to the wind, as we
fearlessly reshape our clothes.   You will explore simple ways to
reconstruct your old clothes transforming them into personal fashion
statements.  No sewing experience necessary.  Bring a bag of old
clothes, a pair of good scissors.  There will be a shared table where
you can bring buttons, trim, ribbons or whatever strikes your fancy
that you may have to add to the experience.
