hi all
im posed with an interesting situation. i was given a rather large Poecilotheria
ruflilata to try and save its #2 & #3 legs on one side are badly deformed due to
a bad molt. the spider hasnt autotomized them itself since its molt last june so
i figure im gonna have to do it myself, ive done it with other tarantulas in the
past with limited sucess but dotn want to fail here. now ive been doing some
reading and am wonderign if it can be done surgically rather than just grasping
and pulling, if we were to cut the joint membrane between the coax and
trochanter would it autotomize do you think? would pressure still need to be
applied the the femur?
