I live in the US, and my interests in arachnids covers mainly the jumpers, though I once owned a Tarantula for approximately fifteen years and find all species of spiders most interesting. During this time she laid what must have been close to five hundred eggs, wrapping them up in a silk blanket that she had worked on for a day or so. She then proceeded to carry this package around like a bag of laundry for about five or six weeks if I remember correctly. This was back in my college days in the early seventies, and there was little information regarding the care and feeding of spiderlings. Consequently they all died, but it was interesting nonetheless.
There are many interesting species of the Orb Weavers here that have wonderful colorings that range from brilliant reds to silvers, blue, and almost all the colors of the rainbow. We also have large Huntsman Spiders that strike with such force that body fluids are forced out of the preys body. Similar to shooting a full can of soda with a rifle. It just explodes from the incredible force of the strike. It was also observed that like the jumpers that this species also lays down an anchoring bit of silk before striking. Incredible.
Arachnids truly are one of the most fascinating creatures on the face of the planet.
