Klaus Schleisiek has made the invitation and the registration form for
EuroForth 2007 available:

Invitation:
http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/anton/euroforth2007/invitation.pdf

Registration form:
http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/anton/euroforth2007/registration.pdf

You can still find the Call for papers and submission information on:
http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/anton/euroforth2007/

Klaus gives a different submission address than I do. You can send
papers to either of us, and we will send them on to the other one so
that they will appear both in the on-paper and the electronic
proceedings.

Also new: the 2007 Proceedings and Papers page:

And there are Euroforth 2007 photos by Bernd Paysan and (new) me on

Note: There's a SWAP of dates in the EuroForth main page. 2008 has the
date of EuroForth 2007 and the other way round. For those of you who
use PIMs for their calendar, I've converted Anton's dates into iCal and
vCal.

In four months time EuroForth 2008 will happen, so it's time to start
registering and making travel arrangements (especially if you want to
get one of the cheap plane or railway fares).

I have now made the invitation and registration form available at

http://www.euroforth.org/ef08/registration.pdf

Note that there is an early registration deadline on June 26th, which
saves you EUR 20 off the registration fee. There is also a regular
registration deadline on August 19th. If you miss the regular
registration deadline, we may have to book you into a different hotel
and/or pass on changes in room pricing to you in addition to charging
you an additional EUR 20 for late registration.

You can find information on traveling to EuroForth 2008 on the new
page

http://www.euroforth.org/ef08/travel.html

Also, I want to remind you that the deadline for refereed papers is
June 27th, just a month away, so it's also time to start writing your
paper.

You can find all this information through the conference home page:

http://www.euroforth.org/ef08.html

The registration deadline for EuroForth 2008 is in a week, on Tuesday,
August 19th. If you register later, not only will you have to pay an
additional late registration fee of EUR 20,-, it will also be
uncertain if we can book you into the ordinary conference hotel at the
conference fees, so you might have to stay at a different hotel and/or
you may have to pay a cost difference. So it's a good idea to
register before the deadline.

You can find EuroForth information including the registration form and
the Call for Papers on the home page:

The deadline for acacdemic (refereed) papers for EuroForth 2010 is
July 1st, and is less than a week away. So now is the time to write
down and submit your EuroForth paper, if you want it to be refereed.

And even if you want to submit to the industrial (non-refereed) stream
(Deadline September 15th), it's probably a good idea to start working
on it now, so you have it ready by the deadline even if some business
need intervenes as usual.

I look forward to receiving your paper soon,

Dear Forth enthusiast,

I would like to invite you to attend the 26th euroForth conference on the Forth
Programming Language and Forth Processors, the remaining international annual
get-together of the Forth Community from

Friday, September 24th until Sunday, September 26th at Haus Rissen, Hamburg,
Germany with the traditional 4th day as an option until Monday and the
preceeding "Forth 201X" standard days on Wednesday and Thursday.

This years motto: "undefined" - ?

As always, the conference is open to any Forth related topic:
Forth compilation techniques, advances in platform independence, stack based
architectures, compilation techniques for stack based architectures, real-time
and embedded systems solutions ...

You can contribute by presenting a Paper (20 minutes), by presenting a Poster,
or by hosting a Workshop.

If you mail your paper (< 15 pages) by September 20th in PDF format to
ks@... it will be included in the conference handouts. This is also the
deadline for workshop requests. And as always, spontaneous contributions will be
given ample space and time.

You must register by September 7th. There is only a very limited number of
double rooms available. Therefore, you should hurry up if you intend to come
with your spouse!

A limited number of students may participate at a reduced rate.

See: http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/anton/euroforth/ef10/ for the most
up-to-date information.

The venue: http://www.hausrissen.org/ (press the EN-button on the upper right)
Haus Rissen can be easily reached from the airport. Just get on the S1 commuter
train that runs every 10 minutes to Blankenese (52 minutes) and then take a taxi
for the last 3 km.

I hope to see your there :)

The invitation and registration form for EuroForth 2010 and the
Forth200x standards meeting are now available on:

http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/anton/euroforth/ef10/

The registration deadline is September 7, but register as early as
possible if you need a double room (they are limited). Also, you
probably should be booking your flight soon (I alrady have).

The paper deadline (unlike what the invitation says) is September 15th
and (also unlike what the invitation says) you should submit the paper
to me (in this way it gets into the online proceedings and the
table-of-contents of the print proceedings). See the call-for-papers
at the same address for details. If you don't write a paper, please
send me the slides of your presentation, preferably also by September
15th.

If you are late with paper or slides, send them to me anyway, and they
will be included in the post-conference edition of the online
proceedings. If your paper is too late for the printing of the
proceedings, you will have to bring about 20 hardcopies yourself.

Subject: Poll: EuroForth 2011 location

At the last EuroForth we considered three possible locations for
EuroForth 2011:

Estonia
South Africa
Vienna

Unfortunately, Jaanus Poial cannot organize EuroForth in Estonia this
year, so we are left with two choices. I promised to make a poll
about how many people would attend EuroForth in South Africa compared
to Vienna, and that is what I am doing now: Please visit

<http://doodle.com/i7sx3qxqf5i2ctxd>

(or the mobile version
<http://doodle.com/participation/table.html?pollId=i7sx3qxqf5i2ctxd&adminKey=>)

and enter your choice. Please make your choice before Tuesday, April
26th, so we can make a decision. Thanks in advance.

There is no choice for not attending in either place, as it does not
help us in our decision (just don't participate in the poll).

Just to give you an idea about the cost and time involved in going to
South Africa, I just searched for flights from Vienna to Cape Town
(not sure where in South Africa it is), departure on Sep 21, back on
Sep 26; I found flights with BA for EUR 765 (round trip) with 17-18h
duration each way (QR is a little cheaper at EUR 748, but one way has
a duration of 28h). All that can vary with the actual flight and
booking date, of course.

The direct flight, London to Cape Town, takes 10/11 hours and
costs
   on BA GBP 768
      SAA 778
for Anton's dates. The cheapest flights are usually through
Schipol, Istanbul or Dubai with another change in Johannesburg.
If you value your brains, take the most direct flight and have a
holiday there as well. It will be the middle of the whale-
watching season.

Anton - have you told Willem that he's been volunteered?

The poll results (see link above) indicate a slight preference for
Vienna. I contacted Willem Botha about what we should do, but did not
receive an answer. So I will organize EuroForth 2011 in Vienna. The
arrangements will probably be similar to the 2008 EuroForth. I will

I have now uploaded the volumes 4 though 6, another 101 articles (65.4MB)
to the archive. That is now everything the Journal has published.

Many thanks to MPE Ltd. for contributing the PDFs for volume 6.

Now, I would be happy to do the same for the Rochester Forth Conference
if people could supply me with PDFs. I do not have access to a good
scanner, nor do I have a complete set of RFC proceedings.

I have forgotten who volunteered to organize EuroForth 2012 (I don't
remember that we did not have such a volunteer at the end of the last
EuroForth); I contacted Stephen Pelc and Andrew Haley, and they don't
know, either.

Anyway, who did volunteer, if anybody?

If nobody did volunteer, is there anybody who volunteers now? By
tradition the next meeting would be held in Great Britain, but if you
are from elsewhere and want to organize it, go ahead, and put the
Brits to shame:-).

It would be helpful if I knew the EuroForth date in the
not-too-distant future (for setting up the dates in the call for
papers).

Thanks in advance.

Nick Nelson has volunteered to organize EuroForth 2012, and I am very
greatful for that. The date will probably be early to mid September.

Paul Bennett and Mark Wills offered some form of assistance in
personal mail to me (probably intended for the mailing list), and Paul
Frenger also mailed me with things that are probably intended for the
eventual organizer through the mailing list. You can mail these
things to the mailing list, or directly to Nick Nelson.

Note that the EuroForth mailing list keeps the original From: address
(i.e., that of the sender), allowing you to reply to the sender with
an ordinary reply, and reply to the sender and the mailing list with a
group reply. These settings are sensible in principle, but it appears
that people are so used to misconfigured mailing lists (which put the
mailing list in the To:), that they use plain reply even when they
intend to reply to the mailing list. Anyway, the takeaway message is:

Use the "Group reply" function when you want to reply to the mailing
list.

Guilty as charged, Anton. Apologies!

Nick, if there's anything I can do to help please let me know.

Regards

Mark

Likewise, my apologies. However, all other mailing lists I use will reply to
the list with the reply button. To respond to just the individual who posted,
requires a little more work.
