Dear friends
to give you the best support service possible I will be available on
YAHOO MESSENGER CHAT SYSTEM from monday to friday. The system will
allow us to chat by typing words OR/AND VOICE CHAT!!! It works very
well; latency is between 250/350 ms. All you need is a cheap pc mike,
like those you can buy at Radio Shack shops. Very easy and no
additional fees. Another great feature of this chat system is the
possibility to save the whole chat session text as a simple .txt
file, very useful for later reference to datas that can be extremely
important for your knowledge, work or fun!!! Also any kind of file
can be sent/received. Many other services are also available from the
same system, like weather forecast, maps, currency conversion, news
and much more.........
Here are some directions to have this service working:
1)DOWNLOAD YAHOO MESSENGER from www.yahoo.com
when you open yahoo web page you'll find a circle on the top
left,Messenger is there; click on it, choose Windows if that is your
system, many choices are available.
2)MESSENGER IS AN EASY AUTOINSTALLING SOFTWARE that will set in your
computer without any problem. It also has a disinstalling facility
included: JUST, NO PROBLEMS!!!
3)CHOOSE AN ID & PASSWORD, then open a list of friends: there you
will have to insert your Yahoo friends IDs, that is people that
already have the Messenger installed, willing to communicate with you!
4)ANYTIME YOU SEE A YELLOW SMILEY close to each friend ID, that will
tell tou he/she IS on line!!! Just click on the name AND a one-on-one
window will open for private communication. Also bigger room are
available!
5)FILES TRANSFER : for some unknown reason the best way to send
receive ANY kind of files seems to be ZIPPING the files!!! Some files
do not get transferred properly, unless you zip them! This comes from
experience.
6)REAL TIME CUSTOM SUPPORT: ADD MY ID TO YOUR FRIENDS LIST
I AM ITALOOP.
I'm on line right now, as you will see after downloading Messenger.

So...looking forward to ACTUALLY talk to you and listen to your voice
very soon, folks!

best regards
Italo

The H3000B is a Broadcast version. It includes the "B ROM" which has
a bunch of sound effects presets. The H3000 series had almost a
dozen different models. Each model has its own preset library (and
different front panel graphics), but almost any preset library can be
added to any H3000. If you're interested in adding more algorithms
and presets, contact CJ at Eventide, cjs@.... He can help
identify what software you have and what can be added. Remember that
the H3000 is pin 3 hot on the XLR connectors! Enjoy!

Jorge, PITCH SHIFTING is a monophonic algorithm for its nature.
Sometimes people have luck playing chords through it, especially
intervals of 4ths,5ths and octaves, when played simultaneously, get
transposed pretty well, all together.
The problem is that a pitch shifter has a hidden brain called pitch
detector; this operational software has the task to understand what
note is being fed to the pitch shifter! When you play chords, the
detector kind of freaks out because it senses MANY notes and doesn't
know which one to shift! That is the basic reality of it!
The problem gets very minimized if you use pitch microtuning
(chorus/thickening/flanging); then you won't notice audio artefatcts
at all.

> I like the way Eddie Van Halen uses his eventide, but I do not
>know if he uses it on chords.

Yes, Eddie basically uses his Eventide for thickening effects, so
polyphony in not a problem.

> BTW, do you have any opinions on the Eclipse?

Well, I could write a book on it!
Let's just say that Eclipse is an outstanding piece of audio eqipment.
Its software and hardware are directly coming from Orville, the
flagship. It is a 24bit/up to 96KHz (glorious H3000 was 16/44.1KHz,
cd quality). It compares to H3000 as being 5 times MORE powerful! All
algorithms are newer and way more powerful: killer reverbs, 40
seconds delay, great preamps, 8v pitch shifting w/2 sec delay on each
voice and....more! It also has digital audio inputs/outputs in
S/PDIF, AES/EBU, OPTICAL formats; can be updated on the Internet; can
save thousands of programs on a cheap Compact Flash Card; these cards
can then be backed up on a computer and the single files=presets can
be e-mailed !!!
A look at the downloadable manual will make you a happy man ;-)

Good to see Italo having the possibility to moderate this group,
there'S no one better I can think about... complimente a te,
amico!

For the other people in here a short intro:

Working as a live sound engineer I happened to buy a used
H3000SE 6 years ago - and got thrown into a new dimension in
creativity (who said we liveguys don't have to be creative ? ;-)
Meeting Gerry and Scott made me buy a 4000 series machine
and I certainly got addicted imediately... I've done patches on tour
*in my hotel room* - well, that's what can happen to you with this
machines, and most important - a company with people that
really DO CARE for their customers and appreciate when people
are getting into it - not a lot of companies are like that.
Within these few years my relation with the company and their
people became closer than I ever thought it would be - (my rack
somehow filled with an orville and most recent with an eclipse
too) - and I think it's a good time to say thank you for time,
support and not at least friendship...

Tho I hardly had time to participate in the last months there's
more quiet times to come with one or the other midnight patch
session, be sure about that!

so all you guys on the group don't worry about 'the next step' -
your last one already led you in the right direction...

Sean, I believe that you can still get upgrade kits for the H3000
series boxes. These updates offer many new and exciting presets.
Depending how old your unit is, it may also require hardware updates
in addition to EPROM's. There are some details on the website.

Hi all,

My name is Sean Kerns. I run Bloodspoint Studio, and I have inherited
(literally) an H3000B. I don't know much about this model, but the previous
owner did voiceover for commercials, and had told me the "B" stood for
"Broadcast". He said he bought it for the reverb and the time stretch
capabilities. Anyway, I know it's not an Orville or a 7000, but it seems
like a really nice machine. If anybody has any sources for info, patches,
etc., that I can use with this machine, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Claude!
I am a fan of, and soon to be an Eventide owner, but I have to ask,
does the famous micropitch preset work with polyphonic sources like
guitar chords, or is it only a single note deal.
I like the way Eddie Van Halen uses his eventide, but I do not know
if he uses it on chords.

thanks.

Hello everyone-

I have owned the DSP-7000 for two weeks now. I have wanted to own
one of these machines for much longer, however. I've been a lurker
on this list since early this year.

At this point I am only becoming familar with the factory patches. I
intend to move on and program my own soon. I'll post some of these
that may be of interest to others as they develop. The
programming side of the unit doesn't frighten me- I welcome learning
the structure of it as I have had in my life with the programming of
computers, my Nord Modular, and sequencing using Logic Audio.
I'm relatively new at making music as it is something that I've been
working at since June of 2000. My project focus is of a progressive
electronic style, upbeat and downbeat.

I intend to use the DSP-7000 to augment my current sound design
methods, and already it is adding tremendously to tracks in progress.
: )

have fun, and make music,
-J

I am a musician/composer of the ripe age of 42. My first Eventide

I am setting up the area with lots of good EventideMondoStuff. For
now you can get <VSIG databases> from many different 4000/7000 and
Orville OS.
This will help those of you having some troubles with starting
Vsig/GettingDBase operations. Particularly laptop users. Just save
the proper database in the same folder where you have Vsig and you'll
be ready to program your Eventide right away.
Also a <PATCHES EXCHANGE AREA> is ready! It's set with folders
dedicated to the different units. Please use the folder corresponding
to your unit, add a simple description of the patch and specify the
database you had in Vsig and unit's OS too.

Hello all,

I'm Gerry Griffin, Sales Manager for Eventide. It's a real pleasure
to have Italo join the Eventide team. Take advantage of his passion
and knowledge for these cool boxes! I always tell people that
Eventide makes "creative processors for the creative process."

I use an Eventide Eclipse in my live bass rig and an Orville in my
studio. I did a FOH gig this past Sunday at a NJ blues club, Max
Daniels, to raise funds for NYC firefighters. I used my Orville
instead of the club's LXP15. The reverb has never been better at Max
Daniels.

I look forward to where this group is going. Thanks Italo!!!
