After clicking print make sure that you select the check box for "top copper layer." This will print your pads etc. Hope this helps.

What am I doing wrong? I can get it to print the silkscreen layer, and
the holes, but not traces or pads? This is true of the 'print'
function of Express PCB and also the bitmap version.
