I forgot to mention, I also use a program called winplot, an excellent
graphing program with great options for math teachers. It can be downloaded for
free.

Don, I believe the cause of your problem is that you are using EXP 5.0, not EXP 5.1. EXP 5.0 only supports the older 16-bit WMF metafile format. EXP 5.1 added...

Simon, Apparently not the answer. I am using EXP 5.1, Service Pack 2. Using the Irfanview cut-and-paste method suggested by Steve (thanks due there) works...
