Per their website, it does not look as though the contest is limited to Tucson.

Subject: [SustainableTucson] Sustainable Foods Contest
Hi Sustainable Tucson,
I wanted to let you all know about a great contest that the Food
Conspiracy Co-op is sponsoring here in Tucson. It's a contest to
recognize leaders in the sustainable foods movement. Nominees can
include growers, organizers, gardeners, teachers, distributors,
educators, writers, etc. The local prizes include $50 to two
finalists to be donated to a non-profit of choice, and $150 to one
winner to be donated to a non-profit of choice. The winner of the
local contest will go on to compete in a national competition
co-sponsored by Co-ops around the country with two national finalists
receiving $2,500 to their non-profit of choice and one national
winner who will receive $7,500 toward his or her non-profit of choice.
Please visit the Co-op's website for more information about this
contest and a nomination form. There is no cost to nominate someone
and you are welcome to submit multiple nominations. All nominations
must be submitted by September 14th. Nominations can be dropped off
or mailed to the Co-op. How wonderful it would be if someone from
Tucson won the national competition! That would put Tucson on the map
for all the wonderful local foods initiatives that are happening here.

By the way, the Food Conspiracy Co-op does a lot to support local
growers in this community. Our 100% organic produce section includes
place of origin labels on most items and all of our local produce
(which we always preference over imported items) includes the farm
the item was grown on, how many miles from the Co-op the farm is
located, and the name of the grower who runs the farm. If anybody in
Sustainable Tucson has an organic garden and is producing surplus
crops, we'd be interested in hearing more about your growing
techniques for possible purchase of your surplus by the Co-op.
Thanks to everyone for your part in making Tucson a more sustainable
and green place to live!
