Classes begin Feb. 19

Introduction to Permaculture
Learn how permaculture design can meet human needs by turning human
gardens and communities into fully functioning ecosystems.

Instructors: Josh Robinson, master's student in Ecological Landscape
Design at Prescott College, 2002 Permaculture Design Certificate and
Lisa Rayner, author of the permaculture book Growing Food in the
Southwest Mountains, 1993 Permaculture Design Certificate.

4-day, 2-credit course: Sundays Feb. 19 & 26, Mar. 19 & 26, 8:30 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m.

Students have the option of signing up for "audit" (no credit),
"satisfactory/unsatisfactory" or for a letter grade (2 credits per class)

Course topics:
* Permaculture ethics and design principles
* Designing for peak oil and ecological collapse
* Understanding and using natural patterns
* The basics of working with water and soil
* Plant guilds and food forests
* Bioregionalism
* Community land access and local food systems
* Co-housing, eco-villages and eco-cities
* Ecological economics: regional trade, community currencies,
industrial ecology
* Using the principles of permaculture in education

$112 for in-state residents
