Sorry, I should have written "gelykkig" instead of "lykkig", I was too lazy to
look the word up in the Folksprak wordlist. Lykkig is a Middelsprake word, but
we decided to use the language of the Folksprak to English and English to
Folksprak as our standard FS.

Maybe we should officially announce on the Middelsprake, Frenkisch and whatever
other FS sites/groups that we stop using those languages and chose one
Folksprak, and redirect to this FS site here.

really inspired me over the past few years, though at school I
didn't do well at it, mainly because they didn't gave me any
time to study. Being forced learning the long lists of words in german,
french and english I kept failing.
Though overtime when I graduated from lower (Basic, lower, middle, high,
university) school, I went to a middle school where I got one hour
german and english a week. Listening to music with german lyrics I
learned a lot. Now my tast for music evolved to almost completely
germanic languages. Korpiklaani, Falco, Corvus Corax, Eluveitie and a
lot more, german bands.
So to understand more of Folkspraak I translated a part of the
'Folkspraakgrammatik av David Parke.pdf' to dutch to make it easy'er to
understand for me and other dutch people who want to learn Folkspraak.
My question is are there some Dutch 'folks' who want to read the
document so far and give their opinion, creating the document with me so
there's a good guide for learning Folkspraak for Dutch speaking people?

You know, there were very many personal FS varieties in the past, but quite
recently we decided only to use the Folksprak as it is used in the Folksprak to

the non-german bands I listen too. More german bands are: Schandmaul, Schelmish,
Corvus Corax, Tantwut, which are worth checking out when in need for some
alternative music.

Haha, sorry its TanZwut, my bad.

Yeah partially. Mostly because I love the german language its really poetic and
yeah the folk aspect, it creates a feeling I cant explain. Folkspraak sounds the
same but even more familiar with Dutch. But actually I was looking for a
language like Nadsat. Came up with a few, didn't like them at all but with this
mix of words which a lot of them are familiar I've found a language I'd love to
write and speak.

So I'm starting to translate random sentences into Folkspraak, but with no
structure in the grammar I can experiment and let you guy's know my views? Or
are there some things you have in mind?

Schelmisch = [state of being a] "prick" or "dick"

Well, maybe you could make a Folksprak TravLang, you know their mini language
guides? I will upload an example in my own former FS variety, so if you could
translate that in the standard Folksprak from the wordlists we use now, this
would add another piece of the puzzle.

I'm working on it. It's a hard job because searching the .xls isn't

When written or spoken it can mean two things:Ruler, king, princeFirst
Its about 'first' in this question. When making it 'fyrste' it would fit

trick how to search them by word, but I don't remember. Dave?

You can also try using the 2 HTML files in there -- English to
Folksprak.html and Folksprak to English.html.

In the English to FS dictionary I have provided 2 options for "first" --
there is "erst" and "fyrst"

In the "Uberlist5930.xls" file the English, Dutch, German, Danish,
Norwegian and Swedish, French and Russian cognate columns are not
intended to be full or accurate translations. These show the COGNATE
words the contribute to the form and meaning of the FS word.
The FS word doesn't always have exactly the same meaning as it's
cognates -- eg English shove, Dutch schuiven, German schieben, Swedish
skuffa, don't have quite the same meaning. Neither do English weak,
Dutch week, German weich and Swedish vek. But they are related and they
contribute to the form and meaning of FS "shyve" and "wek". The meaning
of the FS word is based on meanings that are shared over the majority of
the source languages.

This file is intended to be a FS to ENGLISH dictionary. Not FS to Dutch
or FS to French etc.

BUT:
UNHIDE all the columns in the spreadsheet.
You will note there are columns for FS-Nederlands, FS-Deutsch,
FS-Svenska, FS-Francais, FS-Ruski definitions.
Mostly theses columns are empty because I am not a native speaker of
those languages and i just don't have time to simultaneously make
dictionaries for so many languages. There are 5900 words with FS to
English definitions, but only for example 400 FS-Deutsch definitions and
200 FS-Nederlands definitions. But any help in adding definitions for
those languages, would be most welcome.
