[fors-discuss] Intel Best Sellers List   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #80 of 148 |
Amazon.com has started a list of "Purchase Circles" whereby you can tell
what books folks
in your Geographic Area, Industry or Company are buying. The Intel top
10 was
interesting.

#3 was Tim Jackson's "Inside Intel". Not surprising since this is the
only outside
account of Intel.

#6 (Programming Perl) and #10 (Learning Perl) have Randal as one of the
authors.

I think the signals are clear -- the kinds of people who create the
technologies Intel
needs don't fit in there. I can't help but think some of the long
delays Intel is
experiencing in bringing out new product are related to this.

I read in today's press that Amazon's use of their customer's data,
albeit in the
aggregate, has prompted privacy concerns and they will allow companies
to opt
out. I'd expect Intel to be one of the companies that does so. There
seems to
be lots of potential for embarrassment to them.

Cheers!

Jeffrey Kegler
