OK, last 5 days for discounted FOSS.IN registrations, after that rates
go back to normal

http://foss.in/fossin2010/registration-faq.html

Also, many people have asked for a way to register, but pay at the venue
in cash, since they dont have credit cards or netbanking. This is now
possible by choosing offline payments, but please remember that this
causes long queues at the event, so if you want to avoid those, please
pay online (makes accounting much easier as well, and avoids cash handling).

Please head to http://foss.in/register/delegate to register.

20 days to go, people!

Subject: FOSS.IN/2010 Delegate Fee Group Discounts
achitnis

Since large numbers of people tend to book as groups leading up to the
event, we have made things a bit more attractive by adding group
discounts. This will help large groups (such as people from a single
company) save their organisations a lot of money.

Group discounts automatically kick in when you select a number more than
2 in number of tickets you are purchasing.

Here are the details:

Regular Delegates:

1-2 attendees: Rs.1,000/attendee
3-9 attendees: Rs.950/attendee
10-19+ attendees: Rs.900/attendee
20-29+ attendees: Rs.825/attendee
30+ attendees: Rs.750/attendee

Corporate Delegates:

1-2 attendees: Rs.5,000/attendee
3-9 attendees: Rs.4,750/attendee
10-19 attendees: Rs.4,500/attendee
20-29 attendees: Rs.4,250/attendee
30+ attendees: Rs.4,000/attendee

Discount valid only for a combined order/payment – no part payments.

Also, be aware of the fact that if you choose offline payment (i.e.
payment at venue), you will have to pay for the entire order. You cannot
say that someone didn’t show up, and so you are going to pay only for
some tickets – the discounted rates apply to the full order, not to a
part of it.

As always, we recommend that you pay online, as this will ensure that we
can plan correctly for the number of people coming. This includes
giveaways by us and by sponsors. If you choose offline payment, we may
run short, as we calculate requirements on the basis of paid orders and
extrapolate from there.

Now go and register! http://foss.in/register/delegate

Alright! FOSS.IN is just a few days away.

Today we published the talk schedules:

http://foss.in/2010/schedules

And the call for the FOSS Expo Projects is also out there

http://foss.in/news/foss-expo.html

And we are asking for volunteers to help us run the event

http://foss.in/news/call-for-volunteers-2010.html

If you have not yet registered for FOSS.IN/2010 as a delegate, then you
should do so immediately. Things can get seriously expensive if you show
up at the venue without an online registration!

http://foss.in/register

Missed our ads in the Deccan Herald and The Hindu? Check it out!

http://foss.in/images/2010/foss.in.adv.jpg

Lots of companies have been registering delegates as groups, so we put
in place a group discount system

http://foss.in/news/foss-in2010-delegate-fee-group-discounts.html

We have a few surprises lined up for you as well, so stay tuned to our
twitter channel

See you all at FOSS.IN/2010!

If you are not able to find any (or all 10) Mozilla folks, I am sure the
T-shirts would fit non-mozilla folks as well. :)

If you do not find mozilla folks and the T-shirts look interesting for
Non-mozilla folks and *IF* few are ready to pool in some money per shirt,
collect that money and donate it via your / anyone's paypal account to the
mozilla foundation. :)

I cannot come to foss.in but I'd be glad to contribute an amount to the
foundation and collect it from you in Bangalore.

All:

Tonight, at 23:59, online registrations for FOSS.IN/2010 will close, to
allow us to consolidate databases and prepare for on-site registration.

After this, you will still be able to register at the venue, but at the
higher cost (Rs.750 for students, Rs.1200 for regular attendees and
Rs.5500 for corporate attendees), as against the 500/1000/5000 pricing
if you register online.

So please register online right away to avoid higher costs, long queues
and delays.

As always, paying online is more convenient and transparent.
At-venue/offline payments are strictly cash.

How about a BoF (or any similar thing that currently exists) in place of the
missed Drumbeat event?

If not something formal, let's just get together and fix a couple of bugs.. !

Any of the Mozillians showing up for the event?

What does this mean to this foss.in Yahoo group? Will there be a move to a

This is probably not super important (in the larger scheme of things) but I
would like to keep myself updated about this FOSS.IN's successor.

And definitely looking forward to PRODUCTISE.IN :)

Good question :)

Two ways we can do this:

- We can rename this list

- We can create a new list

On a personal basis, I am against renaming this list. FOSS.IN was
something big in all our lives, and I would very much like to keep this
list's archives available to show its history, and under its own name.
We will definitely have to disable posting here, though, to avoid total
dilution of the archive value. 99% of messages coming in now, and being
trapped, are spam or announcements of other events.

Creating a new list... well, given the fact that mailing lists are
seriously on the decline, and other forms of communication have taken
over, I dont think a discussion mailing list makes much sense.

We are basically on Twitter (@productise), but others use Facebook and
Google+ as well. We have a Facebook page
(http://facebook.com/productise.in) that you could go and like/follow.
We are not so sure about Google+ (there is no API yet that lets us
crosspost).

Also, the continued existence of Yahoo itself as a viable messaging
medium is a factor here.

For now, I recommend that people follow @productise on Twitter, or
follow http://facebook.com/productise.in.

We will probably set up an announcement-only mailing list soon for those
who want email notifications. If you want to get onto that, go register
yourself at http://productise.in right now - it will be an EXTREMELY
low-volume, announcements/heads-up only kind if list.

But for discussions/flamewars/comments/suggestions, head to twitter! :)

I'm glad FOSS.IN is back. I had attended FOSS.IN in 2006 and was surprised when
it was decided to not conduct this event any longer. My contributions to FOSS
has reduced significantly (primarily, documentation and support over IRC) and
hence I wasn't able to find a reason to make it to FOSS.IN.

But honestly, I am glad that this event is back. It made me appreciate Bangalore
even more as the real 'tech' city.

All the best to the FOSS.IN team.

And here we go! The official Call for Participation for FOSS.IN/2012 has been
published!

It will be open for about a month, and once it closes, you will have lost your
chance to present a talk or tutorial at FOSS.IN this year, so get your
submissions in ASAP!

The shortcut URL to the CfP is http://foss.in/cfp – nice and easy to remember.

Please do read the CfP completely – there are a number of changes this year.

We look forward to seeing your proposals for talks and tutorials. Note that the
submission system for mini-conferences will be opened next week, while expo
(both commercial and FOSS expo) space booking will open later this month.

If you have any questions, feel free to tweet us or contact us with questions.

And PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE CFP!
