We are a charitable organization and we do large mailouts (we have
over 3 million contacts in our database). We keep our names and
addresses in a FoxPro 2.6 table and use Visual FoxPro 6.0 to design
forms and labels. One mailout has a large block of text which has
signatures etc. and is too large to type directly onto a FoxPro label
so we have composed it in Word and linked it (via a General field) to
the VFP 6 label. We print to 2 HP LaserJet 5si's (24 MB memory) from
one Pentium workstation with 128 MB RAM and another with 256 MB RAM.
On either machine, once we get past about 1000 pages printed, the
linked field no longer prints. Closing and restarting FoxPro doesn't
help - we must reboot the workstations to print another thousand,
then the linked field stops printing again, we have to reboot again,
etc., etc. We have tried embedding instead of linking but the result
is the same. We seem to have sufficient memory and we get the same
result from both the 128 MB box and the 256 MB box. Has anyone out
there encountered, and overcome, this type of behaviour ? An elegant
solution must be available and would save us days of work. Please
help.
