I need the ability to create a ticket from a
Linux box running Oracle, and do it from within a PL/SQL package.
I think using the XML/SOAP client is the way to go, but I'm having difficulty
finding an example other than the java example in the docs.
Has anyone done this? Or can someone show me a complete sample of a XML/SOAP
request to create a new ticket and assign it to a specific person?
.NET would be great, but anything will help.
Or if you have a different idea, I'm open to suggestions.
Some of my users are experiencing a strange issue with Safari
(4.0.3) and Google Chrome (3.X), when creating or editing an issue they are
seeing html code at the top of the page. The html can be removed by unchecking
the html editor in the My Prefs > Issues section. I tried a patch from
Numara support but it didn’t seem to help. Any ideas?

Adam,
I thought this was going to do it for me.... I added the lines to the
MRlocalDefs file. I used the Opera and it recognized it as a mobile browser
displaying the mobile login. However, after log in it took me to the the
standard PC view instead of mobile view. I will keep digging.... Thanks for
the suggestion!
John
FootPrints looks at the HTTP_USER_AGENT sent by the browser to determine if
the Mobile interface should be used. By default, if it contains any of the
following strings, FP will use the Mbile interface (assuming you're
licensed for it, of course.)
'Windows CE', 'IEMobile', 'Smartphone', 'BlackBerry', 'Blazer', 'Palm',
'SonyEricsson', 'MMP', 'Nokia', 'LG', 'NetFront', 'Xiino', 'WAP',
'Samsung', 'iPhone'
If you need to add one, add a line to your MRlocalDefs file listing the
criteria. In the following example, I added 'MyMobile':
@MOBILE_AGENT_LIST = ('Windows CE', 'IEMobile', 'Smartphone', 'BlackBerry',
'Blazer', 'Palm', 'SonyEricsson', 'MMP', 'Nokia', 'LG', 'NetFront',
'Xiino', 'WAP', 'Samsung', 'iPhone','MyMobile');
When modifying MRlocalDefs:
* Always make a backup copy
* Use a plain text editor - NOT WORD
* The last line of the file MUST be "1;" (without the quotes) Place all
modifications above that line.
* Comments can be added by beginning the line with "#" (without the quotes)

Jack,
I use the Opera browser too. I really like it, but I found that even when I
have it display mobile, it still displays the whole FootPrints screen just like
I am logged in on a PC. Not just the mobile view. Overall, I like the Opera
browser on my BB much better than the standard browser, but Opera is too good
and shows how FP looks on a PC.
John
I have opera mini installed on my BB 8320 (Curve). Although I have not tested
it extensively, it seems to support the Mobile interface pretty well. You might
want to investigate further. Details at http://www.opera.com/mini/

John,
I experienced the exact same situation that you are seeing when I was first
testing mobile access to 9.0.3. Everything worked fine with an iphone, but I had
the same problem as you with a BB. I finally realized that for some reason the
BB was not following the redirect from the index page. I just changed the login
URL to be the redirect, so I typed the following into the BB...
http://192.104.1.71/MRcgi/MRentrancePage.pl
That solved the issue for me, I hope it works for you as well.
I did have to go to Browser-->Options-->Browser Configuration and turn on some
of the features you mentioned, but you said you have already done that.

Aaron,
Thank you! I went through these steps and find that under Advanced Options ->
Browser, I only have the choice of "Internet Browser". I am not sure why. I
have been searching the Blackberry forums to find a solution, but I am not
finding one. I just posted a message on the CrackBerry forums to see if they
can help me to add "Blackberry Browser" into the list. As far as I know, I have
not done anything to make the option disappear. Odd!
Thanks for the steps!
John
We have installed and testing FootPrints 9.0.3. In our testing, we are trying
to access it using a Blackberry. We are unable to log in using the mobile
access because it says that JavaScript, HTML Tables, and Style Sheets must be
enabled on the BB. These are all enabled on the device. Accessing the same
site with a iPhone, we do not have this problem.
Our test FP 9.0.3 is located at http://192.104.1.71/footprints. Does anyone
know how to correct this problem? We will next be testing access using a
Windows mobile device, but I have not been able to get through with the
Blackberry.

Thanks Don, a quick and effective solution.

The latest release of FootPrints 8 is 8.1.1. At the very least you
should get up to that version.
FootPrints made a lot of improvements in Change Management in 9.03 and
again 9.5. You should seriously consider upgrading to 9 as well.

What kind of Address Book are you using? FootPrints? LDAP? SQL? What
data source?
What is the format of the supervisor in the address book? It should be
in the format of the Primary Key of the address book. No, a
SupervisorEmail field should not be required--FootPrints should look the
Supervisor's email from the address book.
Try to test it with different supervisors. I wonder if the supervisor is
not unique?

Correct. As a workaround you could save the data to a local directory
on the FootPrints server and create a Scheduled Task (in Windows) to
execute a batch file to copy the data to an external server. The
Scheduled Task allows you to specify an account with permissions to
both servers. You would configure Auto Run Reports inside FootPrints,
and the rest would be configured outside of FootPrints.

Thanks for your answer William. I didn't realize that they were already
different when I was looking at the configuration. I'll try an pay closer
attention next time.

We're currently using both the internal and external knowledge base for our help desk. Our marketing group has a footprints project to handle their marketing requests and they would like to have a KB. The approvers would be different for each KB.
I don't really want to put the two together because they are completely different.
I would suggest creating a brand new CMDB
and use the existing CMDB as the basis when you create the new one.

Hi all -
We are on 9.03 and using change management to workflow the initial approval of
a programming change. We want the supervisor of the submitter (or contact) to
approve the change via email. So we checked the box for submitter supervisor,
it shows as an Issue Driven eligible voter but no email goes to the supervisor.

When we select the submitter as an approver, the approving email goes to the
submitter. We just can't get it to go to their supervisor. Any help anyone?
We would like to launch this system but this is a show-stopper at this time.
Thanks.

I am trying to update the TimeSpent field on the Time Spent tab in Footprints.
It keeps putting the entry - timespent=90 - into the description field. Is
there a reason why I cannot update that field via email?
Also, I would like to update the comment field on this tab as well but that info
ends up in the description field as if I had entered it in the description
field. i.e Comment=trying to enter data into the comment field - I will see
"trying to enter data into the comment field" in the description field as if I
had entered description=trying to enter data into the comment field.
Any thoughts on either of those would be appreciated.
Thanks -
Rick

I need to have an auto-report run and save the file in a
directory on our webserver. This is going to be a live page with hourly updated
information. Does anyone know how to get Footprints to save to a directory on a
different server? I keep getting the error: “Could not create directory.”
My client wants to avoid allowing agents to set a ticket to
CLOSED status. Instead, they want all tickets to go, first, to RESOLVED
status. There are two issues with this: 1) What is the most
elegant way to keep users from setting a ticket directly to closed?
2) How do you track First Call Resolution if you do not allow tickets to
be immediately closed?
