There should be a piece of small soft foam that dampens the mirror slap appoun
returning .Â
It is often rotten or hard with age . seal kits availible on ebay . I redid a
605n and it worked great .

Here's an online manual for the ST901:
http://www.butkus. org/chinon/ fujica/fujica_ 901/fujica_ st901.htm
Another good resource on Fujica in general:
http://www.pentax- manuals.com/ fujica/fujica. htm
There's a good image of the lens mount flange if you click on the ST901 ID link
- see the screw faces?
I personally have no evidence that anyone has run into a problem ..... but the
SMC and Super-Multi- Coated Takumars with OA metering have a tiny pin on the
rear (not the M42 aperture pin) - and there's a presumption that the OA pin can
get snagged on the screw faces. I have ST701's that have a flat front flange
with no screw faces, and I use the SMC's with no problem.
Fuji's own EBC lenses were made for these bodies, just as the S
MC's were made for Spotmatic-F and the like with OA. Please note:
http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ M42_lens_ mount
"Compatibility problems have been reported when mounting lenses with aperture
transmission lugs (e.g., SMC Takumars) on older bodies, such as Zenit-E or
Mamiya DTL. The aperture lug interlocks with the screws that affix the mount
effectively impeding lens removal."
(That's good enough for me to avoid that problem via using the ST701, first
model with raised lettering. The full microprism of the ST701 is terrific.)
