Description

This group is dedicated to the scholarly study of the Furry Fandom. The primary perspective is one of social science. Anyone furry or not, scientist or not, may join as long as they too are interested in developing a scientific understanding of furries and the furry culture. This group was proposed during a panel session at Anthrocon 2008.

No one may join this group unless they briefly indicate why they want to join. This is not meant to be restrictive, other than it greatly discourages spamming of the group. A brief sentence or two about why you are interested in furry research should therefore accompany your application.

As an academic/scholarly group we welcome differences of opinion as long as those differences are respectfully expressed. You do not need to be a student or an academic in order to join, you simply need to be committed to and supportive of the principle of rigorous scientific research of the furry fandom.

Comments on existing furry research (which as of this writing is extremely limited) and suggestions for future studies, hypotheses, etc. are welcomed and encouraged.

This group was formed in early July 2008. Many interesting comments, proposals are in the early messages of the group. New members may want to take the time to go to the early messages and read them.

That's a really good article. It seems quite unbiased and is informative about the furry community. I'm disappointed about some of the reply comments it
