Thanks for the nice words.
There's no short answer to your question. I've picked up some
pointers from other astrophotographer's on the net and refined some
of the techniques myself. I'm thinking of writing an article that
spells out all the details. Most of the real work is done in
Photoshop where each segment is pasted as a layer. Then each layer
can be independently positioned with pixel accuracy. There are some
really neat ways of blending any seams that might show up, but
generally things blend pretty good on their own.
