New to Astronomy, looking for Dark Skies - Fort Mill, SC   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #527 of 1442 |
Greetings,

I've recently acquired a 5" Mak scope and have been having a blast
with it. Been driving just about anywhere within a 50 mile radius
trying to find some Dark Skies with some mixed success. One of the
better places I've found so far has been at King's Mtn State Park. The
parking lot at the campground offered a fair view of the sky, but I
had issues with bugs and moisture coming off the nearby lake.

Looking for any suggestions on where to go in the immediate area, and
perhaps hook up with others having the same interest.

I just found this list today. Doesn't look like there is too much
activity. Is there anybody still out there?

Peace,
--Doug

I live about 2 miles south of the park entrance on hwy 161. It's quite a good place to observe. Late at night, when the lights go out at car dealers and...
