The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation U.S. Library Program is dedicated to partnering with public libraries to bring access to computers, the Internet, and digital information for patrons in low-income communities throughout the United States.

To help continue that mission, the GatesLib list has been created to facilitate communication between grant recipients. It is hoped the list will allow sharing of everything from "hints and tricks" to more complex networking issues involved in public access computing in libraries. While our focus is specifically on the use of Gates computers, discussion of other public access computing issues will be allowed.

At this time, GatesLib is open to users regardless of location, but be aware that computers in different regions have different setups. If you are seeking assistance with a problem, please be sure to specify the state/territory of your library. If demand for state/territory specific lists arise at a later date, other lists may be created.
