Jim, I brought my Mallincam to GSSP 2008 and used it extensively. I don't think I caused any problems for those around me. At least no one registered any...

While on the subject of tent stakes, I recommend applying small flags made of masking tape (or whatever you have on hand) on the tent stakes and the tie-down...

The ground is fairly hard. What you are trying to prevent is wind from picking up your tent. I personally prefer the 10" steel or titanium "nail" shaped...
