RE: [grabit] Controlling Book ID when adding grabit records to BT

Tom,

I also have alphanumeric book numbers. I let Grabit number the books then change them in Booktrakker. Works fine.

Subject: [grabit] Controlling Book ID when adding grabit records to BT

When entering ISBNs to add books to BT, the BookID field has a number in it, apparently one digit higher than the highest number in my database. I cannot figure oukt how to change it.

This is not good. My book ID numbers have some intelligence to them; there is a pattern and tell me, among other things, where the books are and other info.

I would like to have Grabit start numbering with a number which I provide. How do I do this?

Example: the provided ID is 913950. I want this series of books to be numbered starting with 0901001 (I use alphanumeric IDs because I have some that start with the number "0"

Tom, This will only work if you set Next Rec # to 901001 in Tools > Options > Records, at the bottom. Then in GrabIt you set the Prefix on the BookTrakker tab...

Mary, Andy's method works best, but if you are going to change them all manually, I found a quicker way: When Grabit returns a list of matches, the matrix...
